Reclaiming Malaga City for pedestrians and cyclists

It’s the way forward really - it’s greener most importantly, and if you can get more people on bikes it’s better for their health. It’s a shame successive governments have failed to address this here in the UK, or invest in better public transport rather than giving our railways over to companies more interested in profits. Don’t get me started on bus services 😩

Interesting article. The "Historic Centre" as it's known is essentially car free now, but this is looking to take it to a different level - the main boulevards along the seafront and (for those of you who know the city) that looks very much like Avenida de Andalucia in the article - the main road running down to and into the City

Sorry, this is a little off topic, what's the name of the tapas place where all the famous folk have their photos in, near the Picasso museum. Has a little courtyard to dine in, do you know the place in trying (quite poorly!) to describe? Had a fantastic afternoon in there quite by chance as there was a sudden downpour so the Picasso museum suddenly got busy, so we popped in there for a quick drink, but ended up having several and the wonderful staff managed to get us a table to eat even though we hadn't booked one

We'll go back as soon as it is safe to do so, absolutely loved Malaga, beautiful city

Cafe Jardin? About 6 minutes into this little tour of Malaga (which includes the Picasso Museum and the broad boulevards above)

Oh don't Borolad. You've got me pining for another trip to Malaga.

Definitely my favourite Spanish city out of the ones I've been to. Very chilled atmosphere around the centre, and going for morning runs up to the lighthouse and along the beachfront was a perfect way to start the day.

Not that one, though it looks lovely!

managed to find it - Bodega bar el Pimpi

the celebs that go in often leave little messages on the oak barrels

Yes, El Pimpi - Malaga institution - snotty waiters who ignore you but that's part of the "experience" ! Tourist central also unfortunately

However, just round the corner from there is a small, inconspicuous little doorway which leads into a not particularly flash hotel, but has the most fantastic rooftop terrace bar overlooking the City, the Alcazaba (similar but smaller and less well known than the Alhambra in Granada, but equally impressive) and up to the Castillo de Gibralfaro - almost totally locals and few tourists, and a selection of gins you would not believe. In contrast the Marriott hotel down by the park was charging 10 euros just to go onto their rooftop terrace, before you even had a drink.

If any of you are down here, I'm happy to sacrifice myself and show you where the rooftop bar is ;)

As soon as we can get back there, I will happily buy you a drink or 2 if you can take us there, sounds bloody brilliant!

Our bus service is fantastic - 83 cents for a journey to anywhere in the city from anywhere in the city - swap buses as many times as you like in an hour for the same 83 cents. Bus stop right outside our house as well. Clean and reliable with a real time App showing live data
