Recruitment going forward, and holding on to players

Firstly, recruitment team take a bow.
I know not every signing will be successful, not every signing will work out, some will flop, some will swim sideways and move on.
But I’ve got to say that in hindsight we had a great summer and we’ll be reaping the rewards soon enough.
Enjoy RVB and Hackney because I think even in the short term we’ll struggle to keep them. I hope we can. I can honestly see us getting over £60 mill for the pair.
All of the other players we’ve got are worth more than we signed them for. The value of Engel, glover and Rogers will be going up weekly.
Every other player in the team is worth money and with injuries coming back we’ll have competition in every position except maybe attack.
I really hope we can add a couple this month and keep hold of what we have then make a push for promotion.
With the management team and recruitment team I think gibbo has made some of the best decisions since he got the club. Hopefully he’ll be rewarded.
Great birthday present tonight for him.
UTB. Super proud that this is my club tonight.

100% agree regarding Hackney and RVDB but not the other 3 you mentioned (yet), Engel and Glover’s lapses will make them a risky punt for most teams and Rogers needs more consistency and end product to his game to make his value increase. They are certainly improving though.

I think this summer will see us in the much better position of targeting quality over quantity. Looking at our squad as it stands, we pretty much own (not loans) 2 players for every position.

Summer priorities -

1. A striker.
2. A centre mid to add to Hackney, Howson, Barlaser. Signing O’Brien permanently would be ideal.
3. An upgrade in the right back position, with Dijksteel being offloaded.

After that, it’s just a case of seeing what becomes available in terms of genuine quality that would improve our starting XI immediately.

Hackney and Van Der Berg are far too good for the Champo and in reality I can't see them being Boro players next year. They will both be projected into bigger clubs with bigger wages and that's life. I wish them luck, as footballers have such a short time to financially secure their future.

But hey, crystal ball gazing aside, what a night it was last night, to a man, that was a great Boro performance for the supporters.

We paid peanuts for them though didn’t we? They’d already get in most champo teams
