It seems the Red Faction are coming in for a bit of stick on the ol’ Twitter for their Hayden Hackney song.

It’s not the catchiest song in the world but the level of criticism seems a bit unwarranted to me, and it looks like it’s mainly coming from kids who weren’t going to games when there was zero atmosphere i.e. 2009-2014 and grew up with RF.

A lot don’t seem to like the blurring of their faces either, personally I don’t see the issue with that, I think it comes across as not wanting it to be about individual people who clearly lead the way.

There’s a reason the South Stand sells out and it’s mainly down to them, so why do so many of our fans (on social media at least) seem to have something against them?

What about 4 comments from a few plums on Twitter you mean? Hardly a torrent of criticism to be honest.
 
Fair play to them, not knocking them....but is that it? Was waiting for the next bit. Is it the B side 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have to agree, how anyone can knock the RF / South Stand is beyond me. Crack on boys and girls👍

If you’ve only seen 4 comments then you haven’t really had a look have you. And I believe I described it as a bit of stick, not quite a torrent like you’ve come up with.
 
In fairness
If you pop something on social media there will be polarising views.

Just let them crack on and enjoy themselves.
 
no problem with the song at all. don't they usually get criticised for having long, complicated songs?
 
It is a terrible song tbf, truly awful (sorry).

‘He’s one of our own’ is much better, but if he needs his own song then to My old mans a dustman…..

Wordless sections in chants never work properly. We had that with "Wilder said": unless it was a post-match celebration with everyone taking part, it would fade out after "for the Boro all night long" as the crowd couldn't keep the "der-der"s going, and wouldn't hit full volume again under after "Paddy McNair"
 
Social media just gives every idiot/keyboard warrior a voice … and opens everything up to criticism. Am sure through the years many people have not liked chants but not had the ability to be heard..
 
Is that it? I dont think other clubs will be steeling and rewording that one any time soon.

I was in the South stand on Wednesday. I thought it was ace ... apart from having 3 young wazzocks in front of us, who spent most of the game farting around, not watching and making lame w&ker gestures towards the Hull fans. But the Red Faction make for a great atmosphere. Just glad Boro were playing towards our end in the second half and not the first.

On another note. Not been able to get up for games since before lockdown, so hadn't been into the fan zone. Really enjoyed that before the match.
