Red Faction - walking out on 30th minute

What a car crash for the club this has been. I totally understand the frustration. Terrible communication, tone deaf emails and statements with an increase in prices to top it off. Since then the comms have not improved. People feel ignored. The natural response is to make a point.

All of this was avoidable. The club could have engaged with fans about cost of operating, surveyed season ticket holders, found out how best to cover the cost or at least provide rationale based on feedback.

Protest is an individual decision. If you want to do it great. If not, fair enough. In the same way that some people can’t afford the ticket price increases some people can’t justify spending money on a season ticket and walking out after 30 mins. But for many I thinks it’s more than the increase. It’s the disrespect shown by the club at the same time.

When people feel powerless about something they really care about protesting is cathartic. The bit the club and the supporters forum need to work on is why the fans feel so powerless that they turn to this in the first place.

If you have disposable income to buy football tickets after putting a roof over your head etc. you are not living in deprivation.

For what it’s worth I don’t agree with the price rises, and think the prices are too high for what’s on offer.
I was just saying I don’t like the use of poverty as a reason to try and justify lowering the price of what’s essentially a luxury product for people who clearly aren’t in poverty.
Here we go the old Tory spin line of if you can afford something above and beyond food, energy, and your council tax then you’re not in poverty.

Going to a football game in the town where you were born and raised should not be an economical choice, how on earth people can justify walk up prices that mean it’s would cost a dad (or mum) and their 2 teenage kids in the region of £70-£80 is ridiculous and that’s before transport and having something to eat.

Football should be accessible to all but unfortunately it currently reflects the rest of society, those than can afford it movk those that can’t.

One club for the community my ****

It wouldn’t be so bad if some of the money was invested in the stadium. It’s so dated now. There was talk of space heaters not so long back, but nothing ever happened. Then there was a wind turbine to generate electricity. All of these type of things get raised and we are told, usually via Rob, that the club is considering doing something, but nothing ever happens. The Riverside has become a dated, dirty and soulless place, with terrible facilities and next to no supporting infrastructure.

I posted this on the other thread, then realised that it wasn’t this thread 🤣
Money for nice new directors seats though.

I wish they had walked out after 30 minutes at Leicester and taken their stupid banners with them. (And kept on walking)

I have no objection to supporters holding up banners but not while the game is in progress blocking peoples (who have paid £31.50) view of the pitch.

That would also have removed the stone island clad lad who thought he could stand where he wanted including my seat despite being asked to move.

I agree there are certain issues with ticket prices but the price of season tickets isn’t one of them.

My day at Leicester cost me the best part of £100 and I’m sure the RF spent similar yet people complain about £30 over a .

I won’t be walking out and may even renew my season ticket when they start the walkout.

I am sure AET Is grateful for your lift but they are debating like an adult. And it is a debate - differing opinions and views welcome. Topsy turvy view of the world comment is harsh given what AET has shared previously. You don’t need to agree but be kind. And yes that works both ways.

That’s not debating like an adult or accepting that people have differing opinions. Topsy turvy view was purely about him saying I’m dragging the debate down…long after the above comment, which was errrm dragging the debate down. If you’re gonna comment on art fa me, then at least get your facts right.

I get that it’s going to be too expensive for some people, but there is always a price point where it’s too expensive for some people. Gibson isn’t doing this to try and fleece anyone, because he isn’t personally profiting, he’s doing it purely for the good of the club. I haven’t heard any alternative reason why he’s put the prices up but I’m happy to hear one.

We already pay more than most.

Is that the Tory party the chairman endorsed? If so then perhaps something is coming home to roost, as they say, and he’s doing what any Tory would do and is passing his costs onto those lower down the chain.
It is expensive but the days of £3.50 for the Holgate are long long gone. This is modern football.

I don’t agree with Gibsons stance on supporting the Tories, I think he let himself down on that one. But then I’m sure a lot of those complaining about this price rise voted Tory and brexit both of which have increased household costs. So yes, “coming home to roost” will be applicable to some. I’m sure plenty of “socialism is communism” types are now talking about people power (like a union) and walking out because of capitalism.

I haven’t seen a single viable method of the club increasing revenue to help cover costs here, other than get rid of the free pint, which might save £30 a ticket

There have been plenty. Being able to buy the kits in the club shop at Christmas was a particularly easy fix that was touted.

Complete embarrassment for the Club. I have been right behind this group for years, they do some amazing things for this club. However this is a complete contradiction in supporting your club.

I really don't understand the frustration behind the ticket increases. Supporting a football team is a hobby, something you do in your spare time. It's not like your Council Tax bill, or water rates where they are mandatory outgoings.

If I couldn't afford a ST, I wouldn't go and I'd pick and choose when I could. I wouldn't stamp my feet on the ground and throws the toys out my pram. MFC has to remain a sustainable business to allow us to have a football team to enjoy watching in the first place.

That’s unlikely to make much of a dent. The issue is that the club has to have a large lead time and once they’ve been manufactured the club is liable and has to sell any excess at below cost in the summer.

It’s a balancing act and one where the club are generally cautious. But yes they could increase revenue a little here…but it’s still taking revenue from fans

The fact you don't understand is part of the problem.

To suggest the only two options are to either accept the price gouging without complaint or stop going is daft.

I must say I agree with you wholeheartedly, I understand supporting boro is a way of life but the costs of everything are going up and it’s the same for football.

But I’m not advocating for £3.50 tickets.

Id like to see a comparison of ST prices next season of all the championship clubs before I consider this increase to be price gouging. Unless we are saying because we are in an economic poor area our prices need to be lower as a result than say QPR.

I can see where that could lead in the future.
