More good news for the town centre
Retailer, restaurant and apartments set for old Banana Leaf
A long-term vacant restaurant in Middlesbrough is being brought back to life in the latest investment in our town centre.
For years, Banana Leaf on Linthorpe Road was a Chinese all-you-can-eat Chinese food.
Now the venue has been redeveloped and split into four separate units - with a restaurant, salon and growing national chain all set to move in.
Growing Pakistani street food chain My Karak Chai is taking a double unit, with work on an aethestics clinic also under way.
The final unit, which also fronts onto vibrant Baker Street, is currently under offer.
Middlesbrough-based Magnum Properties, who have handled the redevelopment of the site, says it’s working with a retailer “that has 10 other stores throughout the UK including three superstores."
The upper floors have been developed into 12 apartments including a penthouse, which Magnum Properties is hoping to fill with young professionals.
The Edwardian building was originally a Sunday school for the neighbouring Methodist church.
