Rick Stein's breakfast box

Let’s face it if you are buying this sort of stuff you haven’t got any money worries.

I treated my wife a few years ago for her birthday to a two day fish cooking course at his Padstow restaurant. She loved it.

I would imagine attending any cooking course by a top chef would be really good and something that would appeal to most, but what I would say is if you are buying this box, you need your bumps checking.

Seems to be a trend, plus some places are doing whatever they can to survive.
In saying that though the price he's charging is ridiculous.

A full English at our place is £8.50. That includes tea, coffee or fruit juice, 2 rashers of unsmoked back bacon, 1 Riverside sausage, 1 good slice of petch's own black pudding, mushroom, confit tomato, pot of baked beans and a choice of either 2 fried eggs, 2 poached eggs or scrambled eggs.

I won't apologise for selfish promotion, I haven't cooked a breakfast at work since November 😂

They're having a laugh, packaging up basic ingredients and selling them on at a profit. Why would anyone want to buy them off Rick Stein when they can just go to the shops for them ?

It's not promotion if you don't say where you work 😊

Well it’s like all luxuries in life you pay what you can afford and as I say those people buying these boxes won’t miss that kind of money in the slightest. I wouldn't of course as would most people but then again I wouldn’t pay over £100 for a pair of jeans or £1m for a three bed flat.

It's not THAT much really.

An Indian takeaway for one person (rice, main dish and naan) is hitting £20 in Redcar (with delivery).

Looking at the other stuff on his site (the breakfast isn't there for some reason) they are all done for two people. The mirror article shows two full plates and the journo says there's probably afters.

Trying to compare it to Tesco's best range is pointless. You'd need to go to a quality butcher and then mix up the meat for the sausages etc. If you know you're getting quality ingredients put together by a top restaurant then if it's probably worth it.

I have debated ordering a restaurant box from one of the restaurants but it probably wouldn’t be the breakfast one at that price, (Though I suppose the coffee and Jam would be £5 each and would keep)

Some of the other boxes don’t seem too bad value though for 3 courses for 2 people.
