Riley McGree

Who cares about money, I’d rather have him another 12 months than a few million. We have made enough recently and he may be the difference between championship money and a premier league windfall.
I don’t really care myself, but I was really supposing how I think the club will view it.

I would rather keep him though than sell him for less than he’s worth.
I suppose the club will try and get as much as they can and if he does go (which I'm far from convinced he will) the fact he's in the last year of his contract will influence that fee, much like it did with Akpom.

In fact, as the article below states, 80% of Premier League teams use a hybrid grass system from just one particular company.

Tarkett Sports delivers premium PlayMaster Hybrid turf to Tottenham Hotspur football stadium

Used by 80% of Premier League clubs, GrassMaster provides the ultimate in smooth, stable sports surfaces, and lasts for up to 15 years. The carpet-based PlayMaster hybrid grass technology is rapidly installed and offers instant playability, along with Tarkett Sports’ trademark natural grass feel.

hackney got fouled for his injury to. jones, bangura, smith, mcgree, lenny, paddy, dijk and fry all had tendon injuries off the top of my head. lath was an ankle after a dodgy tackle mcgree have a bad heel. i dont think its a myth or a coincidence. we might not be hearing about the little niggles players have that we dont really hear about, like engel has now. if the medical team think there is a surface issue, then its likely is that, rather than something someone just made up.
I take your point. But I’m not saying anything is "made up".
There's a kind of "conspiracy theoryesque" notion that our training and player recovery management is the real problem for our long list of injuries. That has been a question raised by certain reporters since mid-season and repeated, and repeated. As you rightly point out, injuries on the pitch have little, if anything, to do with training or player management. Carrick has always erred on the side of caution and never rushed players back. He has been limited at times and had to play square pegs in round holes. The "myth" is that generated outside the club, by those who don't understand player injuries and recovery. They are neither medically qualified, nor football-related Managers or coaches. If those [especially reporters] looked beyond the end of their noses, there have been many clubs carrying numerous injured players all season, not least in the Premier League. It's a fact of football life. We've had a very thin squad this season and little cover in key positions, and that has amplified our difficulties.(y)

What a player is worth is, in part, determined by how long he has left on his contract.

What McGree is worth now is less than he'd be worth with 3 years left on his contract.
That goes without saying, but is also not necessarily true.

Value and amortisation of fee and contract are not exclusive, McGree is worth more than what we paid that’s a fact.

We would be silly to sell for a pittance when we can just use him for 12 months.

I think with the illness that he has that he is likely to remain injury prone. Now might be the right time to move him on at the right price.

Once a player enters their last year, I think of them as gone already.

The question is then what would we be prepared to pay to loan that player for a year, and would it be good value?

Well look at what we got for Chuba with one year remaining, what will Blackburn receive for Szmodics? It all depends on if there’s interest and you’d think Riley will garner a lot of it.

I think Szmodics has 2 years left on his contract.

I wouldn't pay £12m to loan Chuba for 1 season, so I think it was a good deal.

How is it a 1 season loan unless I’m missing something? Did chuba not sign a 4 year deal with Ajax so it would be 3m a year?

I mean last summer when he had 1 year left on his contract with us.

Would I have given up £12m to have him here for 1 year? no.

Yep. My point is that, that "tackle" [?!] wasn't a consequence of training or coaching, but by a fat skilless lump unfairly dumping our Jonesy. :(
Your point is valid, it is obvious our dangermen are targeted by the opposition.

I think Jones was an accident but only in that Hughill was trying to rough him up rather than injure him but I have my suspicions that Chelsea took their opportunities to take out LL and Bangura because of their pace. The foul on Latte was very early in the game and a red card and penalty offence.

Could have led to a 2 or 3 nil win to be honest and changed our and their approach to the second leg.

Anyway lath, O’Brien and jones and hackney have all been injured on field by dodgy tackles

I've gone from thinking he is a vital member of the squad to thinking we should cash in. Spent the majority of the season out injured. Left wing would be my number one position to improve upon next season.
