Road Checks when crossing from Tier3 to Tier2

Noticed a local news item with North Yorkshire Police stopping cars on "border points" to check the car occupants reasons for the trip.
So popping over for a meal for instance in Stokesley is not advised. Fairly obvious I suppose, but they are quick to "enforce " this .

Any links to that? I though that was deemed illegal in the first lockdown when Derbyshire police tried it.

If that is the case there may well be some civil unrest around the country.

India issue permits to travel from zone to zone, but they are used to living in a police state, so don't mind so much. Early on during the first lockdown my Indian colleague didn't see his son because he was staying with his grandparents in a different state.

The guidance to police in the first lockdown was “There is no power to ‘stop and account’. The police will apply the law in a system that is flexible, discretionary and pragmatic. This will enable officers to make sensible decisions and employ their judgment. Enforcement should be a last resort.”

The law may be framed differently this time round, but I doubt it.

It happened on Saturday.
A coach on the way to London was pulled over by police.

There was a thread a few months ago about teesside voting for independence, maybe now would be the perfect time given the borders and controls are already in place.

I went to York yesterday and no police on sight, it was in the back of my mind though.

Like I said on EBD's thread, hopefully it'll stop the usual gormless, obsessed hordes descending on Whitby for their fish and chip fix, spreading their filth everywhere. Won't hold my breath though... 🤦‍♂️😒

Well we'll see how this weekend goes, hopefully the majority can use their common sense and stay put. I really wish people would.

So can you travel to say the Metro Centre, tier 3 to tier 3????
That's my understanding, at least for exercise if not shopping, that you can remain within your area Tier, i.e. the NE - I plan to travel about 30 miles from a tier 3 into another tier 3 to go hiking, is this wrong?

I just made the run from Darlo to Northallerton, by sticking to the back roads I managed to avoid any undue attention, I was tailed by the helicopter briefly but by pulling into a small wooded area I lost them. NYPD you'll never catch John Lee Pettimore...

We do our food shopping at Aldi.
The missus went to Coulby last week to do the shopping.
No way is she travelling to Northallerton to do the same shop just because Northallerton is in tier 2 and Coulby and Guisborough are in tier 3 next time she does the 'big shop' ,😆
