Robson and Jerome

Over the years I've heard people moaning about the unfairness of the pop charts. One regular moan from my generation was Joe Dolce blocking Ultravox's Vienna from the No1 spot. Good on Joe I say, the less I had to hear that steaming heap of pretentious dung the better. That said though, The Pet Shop Boys lazy cover version of Always on my Mind kept The Pogues Fairytale of New York off the No1 spot, at Christmas! Any guesses what languished at No 2 behind R&J, at the height of Britpop?
 
That episode when that track was first played, involving Donna 'playing away' was a very powerful bit of telly back in the day... I kind of had to wipe some stuff out of my eyes....
