Rodgers

He's the kind of player who can go missing most of the game and come up with a genius pass or goal that can win a game.

He created our first goal with a perfect through ball, and won us a penalty, he also put in a great turn and shot that the ref blew up for a non-existent foul, he wasn't poor, he was hot and cold in the game. The poor players were just cold.
He did help with the goals and that can’t be argued against and we won, but his all round play was poor gave the ball away several times with sloppy passing.

Perfect opportunity for him to establish himself as our 10, now that it looks as though Crooks is going to be sidelined for a period of time.

He's had 3 games playing as a 10 in the league and he's scored 1 and created 1.

He also won us the penalty last night and should have had another assist to his name when he put it on a plate for Greenwood vs WBA.

He was technically our worst passer, he was sloppy, but some of that is down to trying forward passes a lot more than the others, he's a work in progress, but he's really important in helping us inlock sides. If he improves his passing by just 5%, cutting out 2 or 3 sloppy passes per 90 mins, he'll be a top top champo player. He's 21 though, he's still learning. He's going to be a better 10 than Crooks I'm sure of that.

I think he had the attributes to make an excellent 10; he's strong in possession and can turn and make space for himself in tight situations, very much like Akpom did last season.

We also know he can create chances with his passing in and around the box and can score a goal or two as well.

But you've got to remember he's still a young lad, relatively inexperienced and we'll be a little inconsistent.

Yes, 6 goals and 6 assists now… a promising first season.

How much did we actually pay for him??

I’ve seen various amounts mentioned, from a “nominal fee” to £2m+

Has the potential but cant see him being in the mega value league, can see Hackney and Rav in there though.

In my umble opinion, if a player is anonymous or sloppy for the majority of the game but creates two match changing and match winning moments he's definitely had a good game. Without Rogers contributions last night I think we'd have lost that game. Much better than a player who is busy and neat all game but creates nothing.
Ideally you want someone who does both! But it'll come in time I think with Rogers.

Think it's actually 7 assists innit?
From the original article about him on the BBC football site, sounds like he may have been a free transfer. Definitely doesn't sound like we paid a big fee for him anyway.

I think he's been a relatively low risk signing, whatever the numbers involved, that's obvious.

He has an excellent pedigree, being a standout player at youth level, leading to Man City paying £4m for him, before he'd even got going at senior level.

Despite not featuring for City he's had the benefit of being coached at a level that is about as good as it gets, which will be a big plus for him going forward. It's often underestimated how important it is for a player to play the way in which the manager asks, both with and without the ball (Jonny Howson is a perfect example of this).

He's still a kid really and had lots of room to improve many aspects of his game, which he is capable of doing with the right coaches and proper application. Most of all though he has huge talent, which is the most critical aspect of the overall equation.

Already I think you can see a player with massive potential and whilst he can he a bit frustrating at times I see a potential PL for sure.

Let's hope he gets to that level, but he's certainly capable and I say that knowing not every one of our summer signings is.
