Rogers is suspended for Chelsea?

This was in another thread and I think there has been some confusion. The rules say: "If a player is shown two yellow cards throughout an individual Carabao Cup campaign, they will serve a suspension during the next match in the competition. But, the slate is wiped clean after the quarterfinal."

But this only means if you have one yellow, it is wiped after the QF? If you picked up a 2nd yellow and a ban in the QF, then you miss the 1st leg of the SF. Rogers was booked v Exeter and Port Vale.

If that is the case then at least we have 3 confirmed senior players starting v Villa (Greenwood, Rogers, Glover).

Would rather he was available for Chelsea. Hope it’s wrong but from the way you have described it sounds like he’s suspended.

Nah, I don't think so. Basically everything is cleared after QF so Rogers can play. Remember similar scenarios in the past.

This article suggests otherwise though they may have got it wrong

Who is at risk of suspension?

Sandro Tonalo and Bruno Guimaraes have picked up one yellow card each in the Carabao Cup so far. So, if they were to pick up second cautions in the Chelsea clash then they'd miss the semi-final first-leg.

As for Chelsea, Ian Maatsen and Lesley Ugochukwu have also both been booked once so far in the Carabao Cup this term – so if they're cautioned against the Magpies and the Blues progress then they'd be suspended from the semi-final first-leg.

Oh b***r, think I've got it wrong then. Sounds like he will be suspended for the first leg.☹️

....that being said maybe according to this he isn't. Lord knows!🤷

I'm pretty sure he will be, which is a shame after his excellent performance yesterday.

It's wiped after the quarter-finals to prevent players missing a final because of a yellow card.
He gained the suspension during the quarter-final, not after it.

Hopefully we still have something to play for in the second leg.

This is the way I understand it although you can still miss the final for a yellow card if booked in both legs of the semi.

I'm pretty sure Rogers will be suspended.

Someone asked Craig Johns on Twitter and he said he wasn't but I got the impression that was just his interpretation like everyone else. Would be good to get some official clarification. We'll probably beat them and then get thrown out the competition for fielding an illegible player. ;)

The rules could do with being a bit clearer.
"The slate is wiped clean after the QF," Could be interpreted two ways, anything up to this point including two yellows is cleared so is now irrelevant, or it could mean if a player has one yellow card that is cleared so if you get another you won't be suspended for the second semi or the final...
I'm leaning towards not suspended just because there hasn't been a single match report either nationally or locally that mentioned it, and it's not on any official source. But I dunno.
