Can Rotherham snatch a point from high-flying Ipswich?
V
Preview:
With 14 games of the Championship season under their belt (W2, D4, L8), it looks like being another tough campaign for Rotherham United who are five points adrift inside the relegation zone. It’s a position the Millers are used to being in having never finished higher than 19th in six Championship campaigns, although ominously four of those ended in relegation.
Taking just one point from their last two games, both of which came against the only two teams beneath them in the table, has certainly done little to boost their survival hopes. But Rotherham fans will turn up at the New York Stadium with some hope for this rearranged clash with Ipswich Town as all but one of their ten points this season have come here (W2, D3, L2).
Ipswich Town make the unenviable long journey to South Yorkshire for the second time, after this game was postponed hours before kick-off just over two weeks ago owing to flooding caused by Storm Babet. The Tractor Boys should travel in good spirits after coming back from 2-0 down on Saturday away at Birmingham City to pick up a point, although it did end a run of four successive victories.
Manager Kieran McKenna described the comeback at St Andrews as “a second half to be very proud of”, although he may be a little concerned by his side’s recent defensive record which has seen them concede seven goals across their last three games in all competitions. There have been no such issues up the other end of the pitch though, with Ipswich scoring in each of their last 33 games in league and cup!
Players to watch: Rotherham forward Georgie Kelly hasn’t started a league game all season but could well come into the XI for this match after contributing a goal and an assist from the bench in the last two home matches. Pushing for a starting berth in the Ipswich line-up, Marcus Harness scored both goals on Saturday and has three from the last two league games.
