Ryan Giles

The issue is his defending - if it was a weakness in the Championship what will it be in the Premier League. He also hasn't the upper body strength of the average full back nowdays - he's not built that way, reminds me of the full back we had that went to Villa and Cardiff. Local lad than came up through the academy, but I can't remember his name. Giles is a bit better crosser but they had a similar physique. I would say Giles is a £5m to £6m player. Spence in contrast was stronger on the ball, difficult to shove off and won alot of tackles, as well as quick, also had more of an eye for goal. Spence was £12.5m and failed to play in the Premier League.

I was unsure about Giles as a left back, but his defending has improved. He’s the realistic signing of our loan players, but assume one of the promoted sides with EPL cash will take a punt and offer more.

Hes improved defensively on the deck but he is still dreadful aerially he heads the ball with his eyes closed like a kid in a school team. I would be very surprised if he makes it as a Premier league fullback just look at joe bryan to me a better player than giles but couldnt make the step up.

Totally, and the way he ***** himself if even the semblance of an opportunity to shoot comes along. He’ll still get better offers than us based on his crossing/delivery alone.
 
Rumours circulating that Lopetegui may walk at the end of the season, as he was promised funds and investment, but Wolves actually need to sell to keep up with FFP.

C'mon Gibbo, dangle a cheeky bid for Giles.
 
We know now where our weakness are after the play offs & need to build a team like Burnley to go straight up & avoid play offs again. So very little are safe from being sold after the loanees go back to there clubs.

West Ham are in for Giles. They have been watching him for months. I have been told that Giles preference was to stay here as he really bought into the club, however there is no chance with us being in the Championship, hence him pointing to the badge and tapping his heart at the final whistle last week

I agree its a big ask to get him back and it looked like goodbye and thank you.

I guess Cresswell is getting on and they need a long term replacement, would be surprised if Giles is the one they want though, they play with proper wide forwards that don't come back much in Benrahma and Bowen, so they need full backs that can defend. Saying that, it could be a major upheaval at West Ham this summer and it could be all change through out the side.

Where ever he goes, he has to avoid going somewhere where he is on the bench and that's the challenge of any player moving to a prem side with zero prem experience. It's always better to go up as first choice with a champo team and keep your spot.
 
Lopetegui possibly on his way out due to Wolves financial position - in the FFP mire - maybe a £3-5m bid with promotion clause for Giles could get a favourable response... get it done now...

Ryan Manning is a leader as well as being a top left back and on a free .
Jay Da Silva is another option to replace Giles and is also a free.
Brandon Williams would be a step up but will cost a few bob.
I would be happy with 2 from the 3 but My hunch though is
Alvaro Fernandez Man U age 20 , h1.86m who was on loan at PNE .
