Santorini

Yeah you can tell when a cruise ship has docked, as about 2,000 selfie sticks arrive

I’ve stayed on the black beach in the south, much more relaxed (and cheaper)

Started going in 2004 and only missed one year since. We mainly stay in Perissa, but have stopped in the less touristy caldera villages a few times. We do visit the busier villages of Fira and Oil but try to go when there are fewer cruise ships and at quieter times of the day. I will never get sick of sitting on the caldera rim looking at the spectacular view, beautiful.

We just got back on Friday, love santorini, we discovered it about 11 years ago while island hopping and have returned every year since, we always stay in the same apartments in perissa, fantastic place.

The main reason we go back now, is to visit the friends we have made there. We normally go in June or September, but because of work commitments we're going in October this year. Looking forward to it already, just hope Manchester airport is sorted by then.

during the 1980s Santorini was a mystical island, where young and old treated with a lot of care and respect, not to say that those values are missing but the last time I visited, apart from the views, the place had become just another place in the sun.
