Scotland v England

This is the wrongest take I've ever seen.

England have got the ability to pick the best XI in world football it's that simple. The only thing that gets in the way is Gareth's selections.

It's been that way for 3 years at least. The guy has under achieved.

A challenge to the Gareth fans... name me a better XI that any other manager has for his team selection on international football. You can't.

On paper England beat France, it's that simple.

P.s. all the lads in the studio know it. This generation is the genuine golden generation
You’re deluded

Harry's fault for not being lucky...

Have I got that right?

Anyhoo, my takeaway is play Rashford, Bellingham and Foden behind Kane. Sorted.
I think thats what others are saying, he is wrongly hounded because he is Harry Maguire, a case of all pile on. Scotland by-passed 3 England midfielders all drawn to the ball it was Boroesque naivety, that left Maguire and defence exposed. He was damned if he did damned if he didn’t. Ramsdale was anticipating a ball to a Scotland player, I think he dived too soon actually, I lay the blame at the 3 bypassed midfielders drawn to the lad that played it out to the right hand side. As MC would say, that’s football.

I can’t criticise your front 4. Between Saka and Foden for me but the others, on todays performance its a stick and make Saka fight hard for Foden’s spot

Good to see Gareth has proven the ‘fans’ wrong yet again. Haven’t read the thread but he set us up right, we stifled scotlands attack, created loads of chances and could have won by more. Proven right that rice and Philips can dominate midfield, both played well in that role, Foden played well from the right and in fact his crossover run got him the space for his goal. Pretty much everything Gareth planned worked. Everyone will get their wish and Maguire will be retired off in the next 6 months probably once stones is back as Dunk has played himself into contention. Well done Sir Gareth 👍
Don't talk sense on here, you will get a name for yourself.

Ultimately, for the scotland goal maguie did nothing wrong. In fact, he did his job.

What I loved at the end, Jude gave Southgate a hug, it looked so genuine, not fake or like they couldn't get away from each other, seems like a proper band of brothers, no bull**** rivalry.

Please tell me this is a joke…right? Right?
Pardon?

Why would I be joking?

I’ve said on here for years - in fact before Euros 2020, that our team should be built around 2 players. Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham.

They’re both incredible and would arguably walk in any other country’s first 11.

Name a better starting XI in international football.
Well…. Sir Gareth might suggest…..

………………Pickford (I prefer Ramsdale btw)

…….Walker… Stones…..Maguire (Dunk for me)….. Shaw

…………. Rice…………..Hackney(obvs)…...

Saka/Foden…….Bellingham……..Rashford/Grealish

…………………….Kane………………………..

And that is southgates greatest achievement a club mentality from players from lots of different clubs.

If we fail to win a trophy I blame our armchair fans with their constant derision, the players know it happens, they respect and admire Southgate and I’m sure they get frustrated at the nonsense he is hounded with.

I find it astounding that Boro fans who know that Southgate was such an intelligent footballer and organiser bait him for ‘tactical nativity’….and let’s not go on about his tenure as our boss, he had his budget cut every year, he was thrown under a bus. He hadn’t even started his badges. The day he leaves the building will be a huge hole in the England side, in fact I think the culture could fall apart amid they put the wrong man in his place.

Because at 17 he was nowhere near being an international player. He had his moments but he was way too young

Are you being serious?

In fact he was 18 and he was already playing regular football for Dortmund and regular Champions League football.

He wasn’t ‘too young’. Not a chance.

He was still too naive to play in a major international final, he’s far far better today than he was then

Of course he’s better today than then. Experience can be priceless.

But he was still good enough back then. His performances for Dortmund showed his class and maturity.

In fact it was pretty obvious Mount shouldn’t have been in the first 11. He wasn’t great that tournament.

You don’t go from being an average top 10 international team to a nailed on cert for a trophy over night…

There’s a small matter of at least 5 other teams that feel they also have a right to be challenging for the top honours…

We might not win a final under Southgate and I can live with that, all I want is the team to look like they want to play for England at every opportunity, for the good of the team and not their own ego…

Tonight was a great team performance against a decent in form Scottish team that definitely started up for it…

I simply do not get the criticism of Gareth, I really don’t.
