Season tickets

Define sensible. Steve Gibson knows perfectly well what tickets need to be priced at to maximise revenue.
Sensible as in not charging more than almost every other club in the league despite being located in the poorest area.

21k is nothing to be happy about, the club has just had its best season in years, we really should have almost sold out our season tickets if it was more sensibly priced

Gibson clearly doesn’t know what tickets need to be as we have spent years playing in a half empty stadium

I agree if we priced like Sunderland we would have shifted a few thousand more by now, but I do want the Club to maximise resources for the playing squad.

If we were priced like Sunderland we would have a season ticket sell out come the new season, no question. I would be buying three and I know many others who would then be interested. Can't be bothered arguing about it any more but the club clearly feel 21/22k season ticket holders at higher prices makes more sense in terms of revenue than a sell out crowd at reduced prices. Just seems a real shame as a full stadium makes a real difference to the team instead of thousands of empty seats.

I’m in a wheelchair and I got the last season ticket in the disabled bays in the south west corner
They are pretty much always occupied anyway.
I cant think I`ve ever seen a spare space.
Are there any other areas in the ground reserved for people with ambulatory needs ?

Given how good last season was, I think to have only added 2k onto that number is quite disappointing and highlights the fact that it's the price that's putting people off. I don't think we'll sell many more before the start of the season.
18MFC76 - still quite a while to go, most of July and whole of August and then the Xmas present buying in December - could easy be 23k by then i.e 22% up.

In the Premier League we sold less under SteveMac.

So miss out on thousands extra potentially long term supporters to get a few quid extra this year? Really doesn’t seem the best way to run a football club

More fans means far more spent in the ground, more merchandise and far better for the team to play in front of. If the ground was full every week you might have a point but this clearly isn’t happening

21k isn't great to be honest. It's good when you put it into the context of what we've averaged in previous years in the Championship, but there was a real buzz around the club last season, so it's a shame we haven't been able to attract higher numbers following that.

I've recently noticed Sunderland's season tickets are back on sale and they're ridiculously priced. An adult early bird was £390 and it's only gone up to £420 now that they're back on sale. An U16 was £48 early bird and is now £55.

I don't think ours should be that cheap, because long-term it may lead to a loss in revenue if we're not averaging much higher numbers and everyone is paying a lot less for their season ticket, but I don't think there should be such a massive gap between the price for renewals and new buyers.

Many disagree, but our current hard-to-join, easy-to-stay model has been more effective in keeping gates high that what we've done in the past.

The initial investment was lower 10-12 years ago. Walk up prices were lower. Times were better economically, and gates got down below 13k. Maybe it was the football of Pulis and Warnock that have kept gates higher since our last relegation, but I doubt it.

We could think short term and get a quick spike in ST numbers this season. However, the club sees the current model as longterm planning as it encourages renewal year on year.
Teesside will vote with it's feet, but the growing number of STs is partly due to the fact that those making the investment know they'll be looked after in the longterm, not let down by a short term change in policy.

Its been discussed regularly on here and part of me would love to see a £350 adult season ticket and say 3 to 4,000 more fans in the stadium, but it would cut total ticket revenue by about 20%. OK some could be recovered through food/drink/merchandise but not most of it.

If we are top 6 next season I can see us averaging just over 28k and our ticket capacity is around 31k. There is not going to be big gaps at many games. I base that on ST being at least 3k up on lost season at the same point. There is going to be more away supporters this season too (Leeds, Leicester, Sunderland, Sheff Wed, Ipswich, Coventry sell outs)

West lower towards the north stand also has reserved seating for disabled supporters

If I was to get a ST again I would sit in the SW corner as it's my favourite part of the ground. I priced it up for an adult and 2 kids then looked at Sunderland's pricing in the same part of their ground. We were DOUBLE the cost. I then compared us with other clubs. We were nowhere near most other clubs in terms of pricing. I agree parmoboy, I'm not asking for Sunderland's pricing but DOUBLE the cost is a complete P1ss take.

I notice at the end of games in the South Stand - they only open the centre door exit - meaning there is always a crush and people in wheelchairs find it difficult to get out. I wonder if anyone has raised this safety issue with the club?

My old seat still available - although it's a quite ridiculous price of £666.

Can't see me ever being a season card holder again at those prices.

An U22 season ticket at Sunderland is £180 as well. Just to put that into perspective, three 21 year olds could buy three season tickets at Sunderland and it would work out cheaper than it would for one 21 year old to buy one at Boro.
