Second teams

Hitchin Town, but my affection for them extends mainly to checking the score each week and going to 2 or 3 games a season when we dont have a game (and I've nothing else on).

1860 München.

Been to a canny few home games now. Proper good craic on the terraces.

The team are pure dirt however and narrowly avoided relegation to the 4th tier this season.

We are quite close, I am in Redhouse near to Asda. Used to live in Taw Hill.
Just bought here after moving out from my exes in faringdon. Nice place, found a quiet bit, just forgot how much effort doing a place up is! Now just need to convince the missus to leave the bright lights of london and transfer to Great Western Hospital 😅😅

I hope you make. A FMTTM trip to Málaga might be on again.
I just can't do having a second team. I've tried. Mancha Real and Real Jaén here in Spain for example but I just can't seem to bring myself to actually care. Sure I want them to win but does it affect me in the slightest if they don't? No!

There a those and a couple of others that I quite like - Dortmund for example - but I don't think I'll ever have a proper second team.

@Malaguena and @spanishman definitely we should try next season!

I don't have a second team but among the big teams it's always who's currently playing th best foot ball. So when Man U had Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, it was them; when Arsenal had Bergkamp, Henry, the same; peak Klopp, Liverpool were awesome - and fun; and now Man City are such a beautifully grooved machine it's hard to not love how they take other teams apart.

Apart from that I keep an eye on the fortunes of smaller teams near where I lived. So Eastwood Town, Lewes, Dulwich Hamlet, Bedford, Northampton. Lewes are part-owned by Patrick Marber, a fantastic playwright and I used to go and watch them from time to time in the early 90s. I lived in Brighton for a number of years too and knew fans who had supported them when they lost their ground and played in Maidstone. My fondness for them soured somewhat when they started hating on us after the play-off - sour grapes. They don't need my support anyway - they're doing all right (now the sour grapes are mine!)

Malaga are going for the world record for the number of draws in a season and have completely knacked any chance of automatic promotion to La Liga 2 - should make the play-offs but no confidence whatsoever that we'll be meeting you again next season.

I see Deportivo La Coruna are odds on to win their league and get promoted back to La Liga 2 after a couple of years - they've had similar problems to us. Another good old traditional club ruined by kn0bhead owners
I spent a few days in Torremolinos in March before flying back for the Southampton game. At a bar on the Costa I witnessed a squabble between a Danish owner of the bar who used to be in the Guiri army and an English woman who was visiting from Sevilla and part of the Sevilla Guiri Army, the jist was that there is anomosity between the two clubs fans and it wasn't safe to leave your car if it had your clubs stickers on in each others city, that dislike didn't stretch to Málaga v Real Betis who tolerate each other. I was in Caceres for a week before travelling down and saw a corner of the large Plaza Mayor get taken over by a 100 or so Talavera CF ultras who were in Caceres for a match against CP Cacereno ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023–24_Segunda_Federación ), I like the visual spectacle of ultras but unless they are really creative with their songs you just end up hearing the same ones which ever country you are in.
