I think it will be such a shame if we let this lad go. Yes, he had a poor start with a couple of glaring misses and yes, he maybe struggles to last a full game, but over the last year or two he's the Boro forward who consistently carries a threat, he works like a Trojan and he's an intelligent player who's the opposite of greedy. If it's him or Akpom, personally I'd sell Akpom now after he's had a couple of good games, because over a season, Dunc will do more for the team.

Yes would seem daft getting rid of important squad options. We don't yet know what we are going to get from Hoppe or Forss and injuries etc are going to happen over the season.
Last night Watmore did well. Good goal, should have done better for the 2nd but got the lucky bounce off the defender, had a great run and then a dreadful finish for another but overall a really solid performance.
However, at 2-1 up with 20 mins left to play would'e been the perfect time to bring a fresh Watmore on. Their defenders, tiring, would've hated having him buzzing around and I think that is when he is most effective. I don't think he is our best option to start a game but he's our best option from the bench, especially when we are leading.

He's not one I've ever wanted to sell, just one I think could make sense to with his injury issues and the fact we signed him for free in the first place.
I thought he was a menace last night and back to his best, though it may have been helped by just how God awful Stoke were.

I'm pretty heartened by the fact that both Akpom and Watmore grabbed braces in the last two.
It's generally accepted that we will replace these with superior strikers (one might already be at the club?) therefore I'd expect even more of those chances to be finished going forward.
The service is there, if we can improve the quality of CF I can see (even) more goals coming.

Watmore seems to have plunged in fans' esteem since the start of the season.
He's been a popular figure for 2 years and has regularly been one of our better performers.
This season he's been subjected to some vilification and I'm not really sure why. Do we just need someone to be angry at, and Chuba has actually done quite well? It's a poor refection on the character of football fans if so.

I think it's because he's missed quite a lot of really good chances lately.
Nobody is vilifying him. It's just frustrating that, however much you dress it up, he's a really poor finisher. He's missed so many chances in so many games.
If his role in the team is as a provider of goals then it's different. Last night though he was played as a striker, in spite of Boro having signed two in the last ten days. I don't understand why neither of them were played. Is Wilder just collecting players for the sake of it?
If he's a provider then one or two of the strikers need to be played, and the plan needs to take account of him not being capable of playing more than half a game.

Yeah fair enough, wasn't actually sure at the time (and I was watching it! haha)
Overall it will be interesting to see our forward line after the window shuts though. We have 5 at the club currently with probably at least one more coming in.
If we keep Coburn as fifth choice one of Watmore or Akpom will go I think.
