Serbia to play Russia in Moscow next week

There's still a lot of anti nato feeling in Serbia so no surprise that they are comfortable with this sort of thing

I was surprised to see it, and there surely must be some sort of uefa sanction over this or else uefa unity means nothing.

UEFA can’t stop the game as it’s a friendly but sure they can sanction them in other ways also any officials for this should also be black listed going forward.

I’ve been keeping an eye on Russia games and they played mainly African and other ex soviet states as well as Cuba but this is the first uefa side.

It’s not of massive importance in
The grand scheme of things but Russian national team will suffer for a couple of decades. The team will drop to the lowest ranking giving them poor experiences in nations league when they’re allowed back and tough World Cup and Euro qualifying. Even if back in the fold for the next World Cup I doubt they’d qualify for the next two or three

They were looking to move to the Asia confederation…

But they voted not too in December last year I think this may change.

It’s interesting how the NHL has dealt with this though as it’s littered with Russian stars and it’s largely ignored it. Including Russia biggest star in Alex ovechkin who campaigned for Putin.

He’s still playing in the US and scored a land mark goal just last night.

I think he’s implying thats how the west perceives it and it’s a complete double standard as you say no real difference.

I would be quite happy for Israel and Israeli teams to be banned from UEFA competitions until they end their assault on Gaza, it stopped being self-defence a long, long time ago.

Innocent people are starving to death and getting shot in the street because of deliberate Israeli actions, it's not right.

But I'd be surprised if UEFA took action, they had to be forced in to banning Russia, they didn't want to.

As a link back to our club, Robbie Keane is the current manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv and I believe he took a couple of coaches from us with him. One of which seems to have been quite taken with Israel and defends them on twitter regularly.
