I still gwt goose bumps thinking and watching the clips.
In his pomp he was pure genius. Wasted with us. If ever football was art it was him. A masterpiece to stare at open mouthed. You left with joy in your heart.
Oh to have it all again.

I’ll see your Aguero and Suarez and raise you a Rocky and a Doriva. We could have had the top 3 if it wasn’t for shearers hatred of us

I think people are being a bit romantic saying Juninho was better than Aguero and Suarez. Both those and Tevez were better than Juninho.

The case can then be made for Gilberto Silva and Fernandinho both being better in their respective roles. Both have been key players on title winning side. Gilberto was part of the Invincible Team too.

As for Shearer's comment on the area. I haven't heard it but suspect he was being a bit cheeky.

Interesting cross section of views mind, boro fans are likely to rate one of our own above other great players. There almost comes a point where it doesn't even make sense. If you are comparing 2 similar players for similar teams, maybe. When the teams are different in terms of overall ability and then add in different player positions, it becomes difficult and very subjective.

Nope. You're telling me you think Gilberto Silva was a better footballer Juninho? A footballer, not a holding player, not someone who broke up play and passed to better players in the side?

Again, very happy to disagree with you. Does seem pretty clear to me that you don't rate Juninho as highly as others which I find bizarre, but that's your prerogative.
You look down on the likes on Kante, Silva, makelele, carrick and the ferdanindho’s of the game. The truth is teams rarely win premier league titles without that position have a high skilled holding player

Alan Shearer.
Awesome striker.
It's a shame.
If he had gone to Manchester instead of Newcastle he would have won a lot.
Then again he would have also won more at Leicester or with us.
Or if he stayed at Blackburn he would have won a league cup.
All that talent couldnt compensate for the terrible curse he endured throughout his career.
In short because he is a Geordie he won nothing for the last ten years of his career.

Shearer is just one of those players I just can't like, mainly because he's a nasty little ****. Remember Blackburn away in '95 when he was having an England goal drought, we were giving him jip with " you'll never score for England"! Of course he scored in front of us! He then ran behind the goal giving the ****** gesture and mouthing something connected at us. A few of the Dad's with kids went ape ****, but I thought to myself, "I would have done that at St James's"! When the press challenged him on it, he was all "they were picking on me, I don't know why they are lying about me". I knew the LEP journo who interviewed him and had seen it too, but he just wouldn't even say something like "I gave them a cheeky wave", he just played the poor old me card!

Looking at the long list of all the players and I have absolutely no memory of Moreno playing for us at all. I don't even recognise his name, its like a mental memory wipe! Is it just me??

TLF should have his own statue outside the ground in my opinion.

Turned his back on England and Bobby Robson for purely selfish reasons
I can't recall any other player doing that to England
For me that's reason enough to dislike the man

I had a shirt with his name on! (might have got a bit carried away over us signing a South American).

He was a bit of a cult hero to me and my mates. At the time all reserve matches were played at the Riverside and you got in free with a season ticket, so we went loads. Moreno was absolutely class in the reserves, very skillful.
