Shocking scenes in Bristol tonight

It's only going to get worse.

Something else 'the conspiracy theorists' predicted last year.

Disengaged youths, criminals, police and political plants, genuine folks with genuine reasons to protest all mixed together.

I think it’s fair to suggest that there has been more riots/disturbances under Tory governments than any other.

what’s the general consensus why that is?
because the extremities of the party are authoritarian, and social justice and equality, and human rights are of little concern to those types. Sometimes, the general populace see through it.

Give over, it's just out & out thugs who need to cause bother,
Those types you describe don't necessarily need a march to cause bother, so why attach themselves to this march?

Are you blaming our defeat at Millwall on the Tory"s aswell ?

I’m no Tory but you and others on here like Boro Mart would warp anything to attack the Tories. FFS grow up, won’t you?
It's a fair point that lawlessness and disorder increases when the tories have been in power for a while. It's irrefutable.

The biggest political riots in my life have been the poll tax ones, and the anti-austerity. Both a reaction to Tory extremism, authoritarianism, and inequality

I do wonder if some of you on here remember 1981 and the riots in Brixton, Toxteth and Moss Side. The Scarman report recognised that the riots did represent the result of social problems such as poverty and deprivation.

Have a guess who was in power then.

I mentioned it because, as usual, a thread that starts out as such, the tories, Brexit, shame on you etc, etc, same old pattern
Nobody mentioned Brexit until you did! If that's not trying to stir things up I don't know what is.

You need to read up on what people are protesting against. This Government is trying to introduce a Police and Crime Bill which seeks to restrict gatherings and peaceful protest. Are you happy with the Government you voted for?

Haha as if people think they are just protesting against this policing act.

It's lots of things, was obviously going to boil over when you lock your population up for 12 months for committing no criminal offenses.

I don't know the motivations behind the rioters actions, but it doesn't surprise me. We have a government hell bent on removing what little freedoms we have left, 140,000 dead due to a PM's actions or lack thereof, our taxes being mined to enrich tory donors and legislation to stop peoples only recourse between elections.

People should be protesting. How many people have to die, how many starving children and how many destitute families before rioters become fighters for justice.
