Real ones , not the Vic n Bob one
Just brought the car down the drive at 7.30 in Redcar. Realised I was missing a glove so unlike me was searching the car for it for a min before I got out. If I had not have done that would have missed it. Headed to my back door which has a low kitchen roof and there is was , travelling speedily to Errington Woods (S) no more than 400 m above in the Sky, absolute bright white like magnesium , but with a green tinge around the edge , going fast, about the appearance size of a handball , straight as a die like a bullet trajectory, but then it died in brightness gently and the light went out long before it would have touched down. I expect it was a meteorite fragment that broke up higher up
Only the 2nd nearfield object I've seen in about 25 years of being interested in astronomy things. Yes I have sat out and seen many meteor showers but those are far far away. Is this a sign of sixth place ?

Was walking along the beach two weeks ago in Redcar, near the boating lake, and saw a meteorite. It was very clear, an amazing sight.

I had a look on Twitter and it had been spotted all over the country, and Ireland. Some caught it on their dash cam.

Every day since I’ve been hoping to see another.

Seen one! Looked massive!!!

When night fishing on a beach with no unnatural light sources it is amazing the things that you see in the sky, some of them defy belief.

You mean a big mackerel or flatty like ? How many bottles do you get through before seeing these things ?

No, I'm talking about weird lights in the sky. Bursts of light, moving balls of light quite close over the sea at weird trajectories. I've known some fisherman get freaked out and go home when seeing things like this.

I'm teetotal so no alcohol involved!

I didnt experience this particular instance of celestial bluster, however I appreciate the magnificence of such a sight.

Camping in the lake district a few years ago we were lucky enough to experience a lovely clear night, punctuated by a number of shooting stars. Couple that with a crystal clear image we got of the milky way (the first time I had ever seen it so clearly with my own eyes), and it was a truly humbling experience.

You'll probably remember that experience for as long as you live now. (y)

Ah , I see. Yes I'd be up for a bit of that. Some might call them orbs of lights. There are places in the world you can go where they show up regularly in the same spot. I think Scandinavia has a couple of places

I've family who live very very rurally in Portugal.
They've minimal light pollution, and rarely got cloud cover.
You can see dozens of shooting stars most nights I've stayed.
I'd never understood how people navigated the world using the skys before I'd stayed there.
