Six nations super Saturday

just looking at the table and it’s likely reigning champions England will finish second bottom (effectively bottom given how useless Italy are) that’s a downer.

Who do we want to win tonight? I’m hoping France for two reasons:
Wales fans will be unbearable if they win the grand slam
And it’ll be nice if the France Scotland match has something riding on it. It’ll be a damp squib if it’s a battle for third

Why will Wales be unbearable? . They weren't last time in 2019 in my experience. Most of them are fantastic rugby fans. Good luck I hope Wales do it.

I hope Wales get whacked just for Alun Wyn-Jones. But as he’ll be reffing the game tonight I expect they’ll win.

Englands 6N will be looked upon as a failure whether they finish second or second bottom. They did play well against France, but that game against Scotland was absolutely abysmal. Against Wales they played OK in patches.

Wales are not a great team, but they have done enough. A grand slam would be amazing considering that they could not buy a win last year albeit they lost a lot of games by very narrow margins. Their game v France should be a really good one. I'm not bothered whether they win or not to be honest.

I'm glad that France are a good side again. They have been poor for a long time. Shaun Edwards did wonders with Wales, and is now doing the same with France.

Scotland have continued to improve. I cant see them winning the 6N for a long time, but they are so much better than they were a few years ago.

Not sure what to make of Ireland. A bit like England, I think that they are probably going to be dissapointed not matter what result they get today.

Italy - World Rugby / 6N organisers need to have a think how they can support them, as you cannot have a 6 team tornament, where one of the teams never ever win.

I was in Paris the last time Wales won a grand slam playing away in the last game (1971). They haven't won one with three away games so it'll be a big ask against a confident French side. 14 of the 15 starters have played in a grand slam team so it's got experience.

Scotland have been the most disappointing team as they have done little with their backs and haven't the forwards to dominate matches.

England continue to be a poor spectacle but should beat Ireland.

They were utterly unbearable when they beat us. Apart from Aussies they are a pretty tough team to lose against. Irish rugby fans are generally respectful so I imagine tonight won’t be too bad.
I’m just a fan of France though weirdly. They have a hell of a team at the moment and every time I’ve travelled to France with either England or Quins Their fans have been too drawer

Monty Ioane: what a player he is.
Completely different position of course but may become the new Parrisse. Highly talented player who loses over 100 test matches!

I will have my French flag out tonight and will be cheering on the French and like SmallTown says in his post, the French are pleasing on the eye.

Looks like I might be getting the trifecta I didn’t want of a Boro, Eng Rug, Eng Cri, loss.

im pretty sure I’ve never had it the other way round

And to top it off I bought some stouts which looked tasty but tasted like water and ive just realised they were Gluten Free
I'd just go to bed now and start afresh tomorrow and hope Line of Duty is all its cracked up to be!!!

FWIW I've had a similar day, but add in a lucky 15 with no horses places never mind winners and 4 team acca, which lets just not even talk about.

I was going to watch Creation Stories tonight but I daren't cos I know it will be rubbish if I do so I'll save it for another night when in a better mood.

England have been awful in this game and seem clueless in what to do. Nothing gone right for them from start to finish.

Hats off to Ireland, they have been better in all departments.

Better in all departments and they want it more too. Which really hurts. You can get caught out with a teams superior skill but there’s less excuse for not giving it a go.

what do we think of the red? I struggle with these. I know it’s for player safety (Banahan was sent of this afternoon in the Quins match for a tackle that actually knocked him out). So I get that. I understand player safety and long term head injuries have to be avoided at all costs. But I feel we have gone too far. Aki HAD to go in hard there. He was trying to stop Billy. You have to give it a bit of a go. I think it’s harsh and it’s probably ruined an already pretty poor game. Ireland will just run this one down now

Very little creativity, quite static and we haven't asserted any line out dominance. You can get away with one of those, but playing a half decent side, all 3 is an inevitable defeat

What did you think of the sin bin in the earlier game? Not sure I thought it was a card. Late, yes. No obvious tackle, yes. But he was committed to it and at pace you cant pull out. I suppose by the letter of the law it was the correct decision

The law on

I agree with what you are saying regarding the red card and really couldn't see what he had done wrong. Did he have time to adjust his position and make his tackle lower. I wouldn't of thought so and as you said, he was trying to stop Billy.

Head injuries in sport is a big concern and those in charge need to do everything to protect players, and if that is to hand out red cards for borderline tackles, then we cannot argue. The game won't be the same though.
