sky News presenter Kay Burley has apologised for an "error of judgment" after breaking Covid-19 safety rules.
The broadcast journalist said she was celebrating her 60th birthday at a "Covid compliant" restaurant on Saturday and afterwards "popped into another" venue to use the bathroom.
The gathering was reportedly in London, which is under Tier 2 restrictions.

Writing on Twitter, Burley said: "I want to apologise to you all for an error of judgment.
“On Saturday night I was enjoying my 60th birthday at a Covid compliant restaurant. I am embarrassed to say that later in the evening I inadvertently broke the rules.
"I had been waiting for a taxi at 11pm to get home. Desperate for the loo I briefly popped into another restaurant to spend a penny. I can only apologise."

Burley, who presents a daily breakfast show on Sky News, has grilled politicians on lockdown throughout the pandemic.

In May, she quizzed cabinet minister Michael Gove on the controversy over Dominic Cummings' trip to Barnard Castle.
Burley was not on air on Tuesday, and the show was instead presented by Sarah Hewson.
A Sky News spokesman said: “We place the highest importance on complying with the Government guidelines on Covid, and we expect all our people to comply.

“We were disappointed to learn that a small number of Sky News staff may have engaged in activity that breached the guidelines.
“Although this took place at a social event in personal time, we expect all our people to follow the rules that are in place for everyone.
“An internal process is under way to review the conduct of the people involved.”

Ordinary folk like us get fined and told to get off home - but not the privileged few - it seems!:mad::mad::mad:
 
I've said before & I'll say again, the Burleys, Orras, Grealish & others who have been caught out because rules don't apply to them, they're too important, are only sorry because they've been caught out, nothing more

We all make mistakes, do things wrong, go down the wrong road for example, buy the wrong item etc but we're all adults that we know what's right & wrong

It’s the way she tries to cover her tracks by making out she went in to the second club to use the loo. I have her rap sheet as follows:

Socialising with ten people in doors that are not part of her family.
Doing the same at a second venue after 11pm closing time.
Inviting people who are not part of her family back to her home.
Lieing about it to try and cover her tracks.

The other thing here is the venues in question seem to be also breaking the rules.
 
I wouldn’t let it lie and push her to clarify if she had a number one or a number two !
I simply demand more detail .

It'll be an apology & everything will be ok in her world & then back to critising people who have done 'wrong'
 
I well remember her when she started out on Tyne Tees Tonight, or whatever it was then called.

Incredible how they're always sorry and 'didn't realise' until they're caught. Celebrities huh?!

I've always despised her since her vile sensationalist reporting of the April Jones murder case back in 2012. Using 2 poor locals who were out looking for a missing child to tell them live on air that she was presumed dead and what did they think of that?!?! I hope they throw the book at her.. then pick it back up and throw it at her again (but I doubt they will)
