The notice periods for selections are as follows:

  • Within seven days of the 2024/25 fixture release selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played before the end of September
  • Before the start of the season, selections shall be made in respect of all matches scheduled to be played prior to the end of the third round of the FA Cup in January
  • By November 1, selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played between the end of the third round proper of the FA Cup and the first weekend of March
  • Selections for matches scheduled after the first weekend in March will be made on a four-week rolling basis starting from February 1 (e.g. a selection for the first weekend in April will be selected in the first weekend in March)

I really care as everyone in my life knows not to expect anything of me on a saturday from 2ish to 5.30ish during the season. They might plan stuff on a saturday night or a Sunday.
Fair enough, but when we've been in the PL you could never bank on Saturday 3pms. This is only really a new thing in the second tier.

Thinking back to the European Seasons I seem to remember you could pretty much count on one hand the number of Saturday 3pm home games we had.
 
Fan numbers going to away games might dwindle a bit, especially with bizarre kick off times and the distance to travel. Gibbo will welcome the increase in TV revenue, but will despise losing so many home Saturday 3pm kick offs when the broadcasting black out is on, especially as walk ups will be beyond a lot of fans budgets.
