So that looks like us done

what do we think about the incomings (forget about who they are replacing).

If you ignore keepers, as they're a different breed

- we've focused left and central side of the field
- exclusively within the age range of 19-24, a lot of young talent
- when you add Josh in up front, that's 2 players per position and all able to push on
- pace, pace, pace Lath, Silvera, Greenwood, Bangura VDB all quick
- Lots of ball carriers too, O'Brien, Rogers, Greenwood, Lath, Silvera all known quantities in being able to dribble and run with the ball.

There's a clear philosophy, lets see where it goes.

Has Payero gone? Still can't see anything official yet, and the Italian window just closed

Proof of the pudding is in the results, let's wait and see, time will tell.
This really. I would be happy if we just start to see some progress on the end of last and the beginning of this season. Pretty relaxed on whether we're fighting for playoffs again this year, and whilst of course I would prefer that, I can accept a transition to build a team that's our own that we don't have to shred to pieces each year

The Bangura signing has surprised me. Both him and Engel are at an age where they want to be playing first team football. I wonder who will be seen as first choice.

I thought we were very weak down to left on the beginning of the season without Giles. even with Giles we seemed weaker down the left than the right.

Central Midfielder needed a bit of beefing up - Hackney is a very good creative player, but when we haven't got the ball I felt our midfielders were too weak relative to other teams - it showed up at WBA last week again. Would Mustoe or Boeteng have allowed Swift through?

I agree about our Central Defenders are not Pally/Mogga, but stiffening up midfield will help them.

Central forwards is interesting because we scored over 80 goals with no conventional central striker last season, certainly in the second half of the season. Muniz and Watmore were in the forst half, but later Akpom and Archer were more like false number 9s. I wonder if we will use Lath and Greenwood (Morgan) in similar roles.

We seem to have a slightly bigger squad than last season, possibly not the quality, certainly on the second half of the season team. Overall though I am quite pleased with how it looks on paper and we did it creating surplus funds about £4m and now own more of our squad - we had 6 loans last season and now its only 2. Carrick showed in November, December and early Janaury we could win a lot of games (with only Giles and Akpom missing) by working well as a team. I like to spirit of the new signings they all seem very keen to be at the Boro, unlike a few of the signings of the last 2 years.

After last week I thought we would finish 12th -16th with the new signings I'd say 8th-12th.

We are overly reliant on Lath now, I don't see how we can keep him fit and fresh enough to play 40 odd games. Coburn will likely play games so it'll be interesting to see how he does and with a few injuries we'll probably see Crooks back up front at some point.

Some solid signings, I like O'Brien and I think he's the type of character we needed but we are definitely short up front.
