Sol Bamba

He was outstanding tonight. At 36 is unlikely he'll be consistently that good but let's hope he's that good more often than not.

Bamba was the best player on the pitch in my opinion. Always knew where he needed to be, organised the defense magnificently and kept motivating the team throughout the game. I don't know how often he can play and he could get caught out with his lack of pace. But what a great decision by Warnock to play him, one which I questioned pre game.

His performance tonight reminded me of when Woodgate came into the team against Derby away in the 2014/15 season, hadn’t played for a long time but a masterclass in defending and reading of the ball.

I thought he was more like the late great Hugo Ehiogu the way he threw everything into blocking shots. Great performance and so nice to see him clearly loving every minute

Incredible performance. He seemed to cut out every cross and made some vital blocks. His positioning and reading of the game is excellent.

Reminded me of the late Ugo Ehiogu.

Leadership.

What a difference it makes, having someone take charge at the back. Fry's always been twice as good with a dominant centre half next to him.

Have to be honest I didn't think Bamba would ever play for us, thought he'd come in as a coach/mascot for the dressing room and training really and Warnock helping out someone who's done the business for him before and has been through hell.

If he can keep playing like that, I'd give him the armband, wrap him in cotton wool and have him as our Ledley King. So good to see from a human perspective and wow, great performance - just what we needed.

He was a man mountain last night. He was everywhere. Blocking shots, winning headers, marshalling the defence, leading the line, and he didn't give their strikers a moments peace.

He was incredible.

I very much doubt he'll be available on Saturday. It'll take him a week to recover from the amount of effort and work he put in last night.

A proper leader on the pitch yesterday and didn't leave anything left in the tank.

Surprised he had enough energy to walk off the pitch.

What an incredible performance from his last night - he was absolutely everywhere, and read the game perfectly. Rolling back the years and playing with grit and a smile. I LOVED it!

Magnificent performance strong tackles kept the defence together played the ball out of defence, magnificent leadership, brilliant performance from sol ,quality player utb

You're right, Bamba is probably going to struggle to play twice a week, but I do hope he can make it through one more game before the international break. His experience and ability to organise our defensive play is part of the reason we won last night and we could really do with him in the side at the weekend. I think it's the most solid we've looked in defence since we moved from a back 3 last season. Having him in the side is probably the only way we can accommodate a back four. Our only weakness is the lack of pace of Peltier and Bamba, but once Dijksteel is back that's probably less of a problem.

I do hope Bamba sticks around once he retires, he's clearly a natural leader and could add a lot to any coaching setup, possibly even as a manager one day. I think Fry is going to learn a lot playing alongside him.

I remember him playing for Leeds at the Riverside a few years ago. He blocked everything we threw at them and they held on for a 1 nil win thanks to him. He was similar last night.

I also remember him playing for Leeds at our place and he was absolutely abysmal to the point he gift wrapped a goal for Fabbrini to seal us a 3-0 win.
