Some honest folk about still

I realised yesterday that I had lost my wallet.
Not an expensive wallet, in fact I had taken the last note out at the match on Saturday
However my daughter bought me the wallet last year after Mam passed away and it had a picture of me and Mam on it.
I had also just put a photo of my Dad in after his funeral on Friday ( which by the way can I thank you good folk for your messages of support the other day)
I knew I had it at the match but I wasn’t sure where I had actually lost it.
As you can imagine I was devastated due to the sentimental value, I actually never slept much last night.
This morning I got an unknown id call which I normally would not answer, however I did and it turned out to be the reception at MFC
Some body had handed my wallet in.
So if anybody on here was that person thank you very much.
I am one very relieved bloke tonight 👍

Something similar happened to me, but I see it as an 'only in Teesside' event. No chance in the majority of UK (I live in London).

Not true. I used to work on the Strand. A few years ago I was leaving the office late and found a bulging wallet on the pavement. It contained €500+, a series of credit cards, a key card for a London hotel and a Belgian ID card. I took it to Charing Cross police station just off the Strand. While they were a bit surprised, they did ask for my contact details. While I hadn't asked them to pass them on, the woman did email a message of thanks a few weeks later.

Nice to hear, despite everything we hear, read and watch of theft, cruelty and worse in the media I still believe that the vast majority of people are decent and honest.
I would agree.
It's the vile minority that stand out, get noticed, hit the headlines and polute social media.

Many years ago I found a wallet in London.

I took it to Kentish Town police station to hand it in.

They told me to wait so they could do the paperwork.

It was taking some time, and when I asked why so long, they said it had been so long since anyone had handed in a wallet they didn't know where the forms were.

I dropped my wallet outside a Chicago Fire MLS game and someone handed it in, but only after helping themselves to all the money inside. I had my business card in there and someone from the club delivered the wallet to me in my seat during the game!

People are generally kind and generous. A couple of months ago Mrs V rang me and said the metro had broken down, could I go pick her up from a station outside of Newcastle? I drove the 20 mins and there she was, now with an old lady by her side - could we drop her off too, as she'd been on the same train. No problem, we dropped her off. Yesterday I opened the post and found that the old lady had taken the time to trace us and sent a gift voucher as a thank you, bless her. I like to believe that people generally are kind and thoughtful.
