The LGBT movement took off after a fight back outside a down - town, back - street, gay nightclub [Stonewall] in New York City.
Up to that point, discrimination, harassment, beatings by the police and imprisonment, were a daily event.

well firstly his mis-represents the proportion of white victims of the police versus black victims in lethal arrests. This is quite clearly deliberrate, or he is an idiot.
Secondly he misrepresents the proportion of violent crimes committed by black men. Homicide is very high amongst black young men, when you get to lesser violent offences blacks are not over represented at all. Most criems in amerrican don't result in a homicide. Again either dishonest or an idiot.
He says nothing about the number of interactions black men have with the police versus the arrest rate. The number of black men that have interactions with the police is orders of magnitude greater than the arrest rate when compared to white people. He either chose not to mention this or is an idiot.
He then claims that there is no endemic racism in the USA then tells a story of a president who did the eulogy at a KKK funeral. Which is it, no endemic racism or is the president a racist? All figures suggest that racism is a real problem in the USA and he is eithe denying it or is an idiot.
His comments on the civil award to George Floyds family tainting the jury. Did he listen to any of the evidence? I suggest he either listened to it and is an idiot or he didn't listen to it and should keep quiet about something he knows absoloutely nothing about.
Him being black should mean he understands racism better than I do, it doesn't mean he is better qualified to spout his crap on tv.

Stats just not showing more white people getting killed - in these stats - as I said, would be good to know where he is getting his stats from - as being able to check they are reliable & not just opinion is needed.

More than half of the homicides are perpetrated by an ethnic group that represents less than 15% of the population. When police officers attend to an incident and try to apprehend someone, they are much more likely to be facing a gun and and violence if the guy they are trying to apprehend is black. Stats are compiled with the benefit of hindsight, but police officers on the street don't know what they are facing. The guy may be armed or he may not. If you put yourself in the position of a US cop, it's not really surprising that too many of them are trigger happy.
On average, a cop is killed by shooting every week.
Since the George Floyd case, the US police have become targets and scapegoats for all kinds of people goading them and provoking them. Some police have been ambushed when just going about their beat.

The chances of a police officer being killed in the line of duty is tiny. In 2013 the last year for which there is complete data, police officer killings had dropped to 7 per 100,000 from a high 20 years previous of 50 per 100,000.
Last year they're was an estimated jump of 28% in police officer deaths,but the data is incomplete and includes accidental death and natural causes.
Being a police officer in the USA is less dangerous than being a firefighter.
Racism is systemic in the US police force even the doj are starting to address this.
To deny that is either dishonest or uninformed.
