You know what is depressing. Our fans saying if 'we' get 6 mill thats ok or if 'we' get 10 mill thats good.

Its crazy. Who is this 'we'?

Us fans get nothing do you understand?

In fact we lose a player with huge potential that in the next few years could be a maaaive part of a promotion team. Do you think Aston Villa are doing a charity outreach? No they see it!

If you have learned anyrhing about Ste Gibson then you will know that winning financially is not his aim for Boro. He wants a good team capable of competing at the top of this division he has spent countless millions trying to do it.

I bet he is hugely disappointed this has come round so quick. Another year and £20 mill plus could easily be on the table now we have to go and find another with as much potential and could well end up with another Hoppe etc.

Absolutely gutted

Not sure what's hard to understand. We might not get anything but the club does. The club spends money. You know exactly what people mean. And money might not mean anything to Gibson but the rules surrounding the spending of money do. We need to generate money to buy other players at some point. Whether you think that fee is enough is up to you but a bit of a silly rant really.

I’ve never understood why fans care about transfer fees either as in if we get 19 mil I’d sell.

As a fan I've got a fairly simple logic as to why I care about transfer fees.

Purely by operating our club loses money and Gibson is the one that foots that bill. The most important thing for me is that we have a football club to support and that it's competitive.

If the odd sale generates enough income to keep us financially healthy whilst still allowing us to challenge at the right end of the table then I'll take that.

Selling Rogers isn't going to stop us being competitive.

It's amazing how a bit of fear and uncertainty gets into people's heads.
Nothing has happened except we have rejected 2 bids and there is rumour of a third already in We also know we want to hold onto our developing talent , and we also know that we want 15m but MAY start thinking about talking at 10+m. He and the club have got a huge game in just over 48 hrs, the cub aren't going to jeopardise that game so we will hear nothing but more rumour and more rehash journos until at least Wed 24th. Also , to think that actual real comments from Rogers about this are actually out there in interweb is totally bizarre. He's a good lad, his agent will have told him, I'll get onto this, you stay quiet. Calm down peeps

All of a sudden Rogers is world beater, Rogers is one of our top players !!! Why? is that because Villa all of a sudden want him?

We've had loads of threads about Rogers, last one on 13th Jan before these transfer rumours.

I said back then, In a nutshell.. Rogers can be good, then can be bad, he can be brilliant, then can be useless, he can be pleasing on the ball then frustrating...

Not sure how he gets into the Villa team, if he joins them.

I'm not sure he gets into our team, if everyone was fully fit and others back from international duties...

Selling him for a huge profit makes perfect sense for the club, providing we use some or all of the transfer fee, into improving the team.

Of our new signings in the summer, I would be more gutted if VDB was been looked at by Villa.

Presumably because we’d get a large sum to invest on other players who all might be just as good?

That said, I don’t actually care about fees. I don’t care about keeping players either, if they wanna go let them, leave the fees to the club hierarchy.

The last player I felt genuinely “attached” to (to the extent that I was gutted when they left) was Lee Tomlin. As you get older you care less about individuals, in my opinion.

If Rogers left tomorrow I’d be over it by the time I went to the pub tomorrow night.

My point is that money is often a misnomer it’s not like we will benefit if rather keep the player as with tav.

As replacing often costs twice as much. If you can replace that is.

Well what do you want people to say if they think a deal feels ok?

Come on, this is Morgan Rogers, it’s not McClaren phasing out Juninho.

You’re aware Roger’s was a replacement aren’t you? So we can and have replaced players.

I often find not caring about transfer fees received goes hand in hand with shouting that we should pay whatever necessary for player x, y, z. It’s ok that you don’t get it.

You are so right and we see the same stuff posted on here about Hackney that it is just a matter of time before he goes and it’s now about getting a decent fee for him, what that decent fee is will be decided and communicated to the fans in due course.

I don’t think posters mean anything by it I think they are just conditioned to lower expectations because they support a club like Middlesbrough and the transfer fee makes it all ok because their club gets a bit of money to continue its existence at a certain level.

Nothing much changes over the years either, when Liverpool and others were taking the likes of Souness, Johnson, Mills and Proctor off our hands in the 1970’s it was all ok because we were getting big transfer fees to keep our heads above water, don’t worry about the team being weakened.

I think comparing Souness going, and possibly Rogers going is like chalk and cheese.
Souness was our best player in a very small squad, with only 1 sub on the bench, him leaving was a massive loss to the team. and irreplaceable.

Rogers won't weaken the team, only the lack of numbers, and can be easily replaced.

At the end of the day if Rogers wants to go he’ll go. Probably better sooner rather than later as it gives us time to get a replacement.
