Souness or Merson?

Souness was like Gerrard and Keane rolled into one.
Merson was one of the most creative players of his crop
 
Souness, but it's a silly question there different types of players.

If i needed an attacker then Merson, if I needed a ball winning/passing midfielder then Souness..

Totally different players. Merson would be amazing to have in this league like we already know. But sourness in the long run would be my pick. Class.
 
Both fantastic players. But if you're having an intelligent debate about a best ever British X1 it would be difficult to leave Souness out. Merson was brilliant but wouldn't get anywhere close
 
Sourness. Although we had Merson 'not in his prime' and still one of the best footballers I've ever seen in a Boro shirt.

I get it was in the champo. Yet never seen a player run games and get 8-9 every week. Stuck out like a sore thumb.

Shame he left the way he did. I think it clouds some people's memories of that one season.
 
Easily Graeme Souness. He could play a role like Merson did, but Merson couldn't play Souness' role.

And Merson just took the easy options through his career, he wasn't driven like Souness. Could Merson have cut it at Liverpool? No, he would have made an excuse and bailed.
