Hi all.
I've been posting on this site with this username for at least 15 years, so I hope people think I'm not taking advantage.
After the resignation of an “Independent” councillor for the Berwick Hills and Pallister ward in Middlesbrough,(Lee Garvey) I’ve been selected by the Labour party to be the Labour Party candidate for my home ward.
I have stood in the ward previously, during the so called “Independence day” elections in 2019 when a number of so called independent candidates was elected on the back of Preston’s money and lies of a open and transparent council, our council has never been more secretive than it is now!
I’m standing on a local Labour platform of proving that there is indeed something called community, where neighbours look out for each other and stick together. Currently our council spends most of it’s capital budget in the centre of the town and in Middlehaven. I do think both them areas require huge investment but not at the determent of East Middlesbrough, which are amongst the most deprived wards in the country. ASB is a huge problem in East Middlesbrough, yet Mayor Preston keeps his wardens in the center, the police are unbelievably stretched, and it’s the residents who suffer. This of course makes my plan of rebuilding communities much harder.
The campaign is just starting, the last day for candidates to declare is next Wednesday (1st June) and the election is 30th June.
If you know people that live in my ward, please ask them to consider voting, (Hopefully for me) turnout is expected to be very low.
And if you or them have any questions, please just ask or I can add my email address and telephone number once the official race begins.
Cheers
Ian Blades.
