Steady the Ship

The players are making individual mistakes which is costing us points, which suggests they weren’t engaged with what the previous manager was doing. They did the same to Warnock, and those who were here prior did the same to Woodgate.

These types of errors weren’t happening in the middle of last season though. Let’s be honest. If they’ve stopped listening to Wilder or lost faith in him, or if there’s been tension and unrest off the pitch, then surely there’ll be an uplift in mood and performance now Wilder has gone.

We need a coach who can get them focused again. When Karanka came in, he had no experience of English football. He slowly but surely got his defence sorted out and worked out who was worth keeping around. It doesn’t have to be somebody we’ve heard of coming in next IMO. The right man can come from anywhere.

While the new bloke is assessing and coaching, the recruitment team and Scott MUST be making sure that at least one new midfielder is in place for January. Otherwise we’re not really going to be able to truly push on.

We’ve had too many steady the ship managers

Warnock
Pulis
Woodgate (in terms of budget)

Brutal times. I’d rather take a gamble and if we end up in league 1 so be it

Last time we were in this position before Xmas and changed we brought karanka in.

Having slept on it I definitely don’t want a steady the ship manager. The way we have messed about both Warnock and Wilder while developing a new model, we might as well have stuck with Woodgate. In fact he might have survived the season if it hadn’t been for a global pandemic. I want an innovative young coach, like Steve McClaren was when he came here.

If we end up in League One, this club could spiral downwards. Warnock was an excellent appointment for the circumstances.

Woodgate was taking us down.
