Steve Gibson - Politician?

On Wikipedia he’s listed as entrepreneur and politician, did I miss something?

I know he’s mentioned politics in the past but is he now running for public office?

He was a Labour Councillor just before he set Bulkhaul up in the early 80s. He obviously had business ambitions so he saw this as a way of forming connections and seeing how things work. He wasn't political but became a Conservative mainly through seeing things through his business interests. He didn't like workers having union representation and thinks he has to pay too much tax in the UK.

That's why he moved away?

I asked if he posted on here. Would his account be restricted, be called a shill (he pays to support the tories) and many other things. I suspect the owners of the board and other posters would be falling over themselves to speak to him. One time Tory voter = fair game. A Tory party doner = hero 🙄

You arrive at a conclusion based on a bunch of assumptions.

Gave £20k to your local Tory MP - makes him political

In fact makes his personal investment in politics bigger than his personal investment in football.:)

As long as he runs the Boro well , he could pretend to run about dressed as an emu in his own time if he so desired . That’s my take on it .

i remember throwing a wobbler when I got a letter from him endorsing the Stockton South Tory Tata tw&t . Since then I’ve learned footy wise to accept what you have if it’s tolerable , once you look around you and realise things could be worse

He backed Labour's Sue Jeffrey for Teesside mayor when she stood against Ben Houchen, so not as partisan as you might hope

Ref Tax - didn't he move to Jersey to save a lot of tax?

If his income tax bill is £12m and he can reduce it to £6m by moving to Jersey I can see the temptation. Morally not very acceptable, but Amazon, Google and Apple do it on a mammoth scale.
