Still booing the taking the knee

There is an elephant in the room

Reverse our original decision and get our players to take the knee - over time the booing will go. It has everywhere else.
Was it just us and Milwall that didn’t take part in the gesture?

Two threads on this in two weeks and still no closer to solving the mystery of why people are booing it (other than racism, being anti anti racist or just plain ignorance).

Yet those defending the booing insist it's nothing to do with racism 🤔

Strange.

I don't like the national anthem. It nonsensically glorifies the biggest scrounger in the country, whose family protected and continue to protect a sex offender and it's a boring dirge of a tune anyway. And it's played all the time at sporting events. When will it end. Enough is enough.

And guess what. I still don't boo it. But if I did I'd be able to articulate why. Funny that.
There is no mystery here. Many supporters do not like this controversial and contentious act, hence some will boo.

Are Boro fans abusing black players during the game? No.

Its pointless virtue signalling. We have just seen a world cup where the nations great and good kneelers went off to a nation of evil to stop their kneeling and profit. Part time anti racists. Part time social justice.

How many of the players who originally made the decision are still here? Probably been a decent turnover since then and the decision was led by Britt who is long gone (and never struck me as a deep thinker anyway).

I suspect we continue not doing it out of habit now rather than because the players feel strongly one way or another.

I get that most of them probably just want to concentrate on their footy, but it would be good for someone in the squad to show a bit of leadership on the issue. You'd think Steffen might have strong feelings about it for starters.

Even if they want to continue not to do it, another statement explaining their stance and supporting the gesture from other clubs wouldn't hurt.

I think it’s bigger than that you know.
Decisions like this are taken at a senior level (CEO and above)

Yes, I’m sure they were happy to hear the views of the ‘team’.
Can you just imagine that conversation?
A 70 year old bully articulating the pros and cons of taking the knee to a group of predominantly young men who just want to play footy?

I can‘t think of anything that could go wrong with that conversation.

Not sure where to start with that other than you’re a racist apologist

So, taking your argument that the act of taking the knee is nothing more than a token gesture intended to portray their social conscience or good character... What does, do you suppose, the token gesture of booing it portray in return ? 🤔

Are the fans booing players taking a knee being racist? Are they literaly racially abusing anybody? There is no literal racism present.

There is hostility present being displayed to a controversial act. Taking the knee is a nonsense.

There isn’t anything controversial or contentious about it. They’ve told everybody why they do it. The message couldn’t be any clearer. The only reason people will boo is either because they are thick as mince or racist.

why exactly are they booing, if not to reject the stand against racism? I have not heard even a slightly reasonable explanation from anyone. Just deflection and doubling down.

Taking the knee is tokenistic. Its achieves what? It costs the players what? You can take the knee and still be vermin as a human being. Its a measurement of nothing.

English players went to Qatrar to profit from human misery. Club owners in this Country?

An emotion - Thinking something is rubbish.

I am going to repeat myself - because this has annoyed me this morning...

I'd love to see any one of them spend 20 minutes passing a football around with a ten year old kid, who wasn't white, and then try and explain their reason for booing to them afterwards. Good luck with that. Hope your mirror is nice and shiny this morning.

Thats irrelevent. You're booing someone for making a statement against inequality and unfairness. That's what you're actually doing, regardless of whatever you may think you're doing.
