Stocktons a shiit'ole

Its hard to pick out for me if he said the s/word.

Absolutely awful if he did say it.

Its these working class towns that in times of war provide the cannon fodder ("I'm from Teesside, but the Royal Navy made me") to protect the privileged middle and upper classes. When we are not at war, many are treated as a burden on society or ridiculed in TV documentaries about benefits etc. Its clear to me there is distinct lack of opportunities and roles models in many forgotten and left behind areas of the UK which lays the ground for poverty.

Ever this. As Kipling said
“It’s Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute!
But it's " Saviour of 'is country " when the guns begin to shoot”

Yeah, parliament road is an example. It can be intimidating, but I've regularly walked up and down both sides to get things for the cat food we make. The polish shops are great.

when I lived there, and central Stockton, you got more chew off the white druggies causing aggro or nicking for drugs than you did off asylum seekers, who might go through your charity bag or your wheelie bin, instead of through your window or shed door
Lived on Parliament road until I was 16, and the white chavs were definitely the worst type of people in that area.

I still drive down there to go to Mario’s.

Pathetic from Hodges.

I wouldn’t believe a word this idiot says but even if it were true, it’s hardly a defence.

No denial that Cleverly was the person speaking either.
If that’s the best they can come up with in 5 hours, no wonder the country is on its knees!

I remember I used to think The Thick Of It was far fetched, nowadays it would seem like a fly on the wall documentary. I doubt it would even be funny anymore!

Has Houchen claimed credit for “putting Stockton on the map today” yet?

Clearly very angry there, and rightly so.

This hideous cabal of a government and party need smashing to nothing at the next election. It can’t come soon enough and I’ll despair if it doesn’t come to pass.

Im no lefty by any means, I’m fairly middle of the road but I’ve never been so angry at or ashamed a government as I am with these absolutely morally bankrupt scoundrels.

If the statement is believed

I know this sort of thing loses parties a lot of votes - look at Gordon Brown with the Rochdale woman in 2010. People ofen are unaware of financial cuts to local state schools or they can say it was the lesser of two evils, but the emotional arrogance of the s/hole statement says so much and from a senior minister too. I would say thats Stockton South lost in 2024.

Are mainstream media picking it up like the Brown incident though?
