Summer jollies advice

We're thinking about going to Montenegro in early September. Has anyone been?

Not sure where to stay, Petrovac, Utheja and Dobra Vida look like they would suit us. I like a decent sized pool to swim in. If anyone can help, we'd appreciate it.

I'm going in July with the family, to Herceg Novi (Iberostar). And I've booked a client into the Carine Kumbor in May (also in Herceg Novi). These are both 4*+ all inclusive, flying into Dubrovnik. Lots of choice of hotels across the country, but standards vary. I'd be reading the reviews carefully. September is also a fantastic time to visit - last year I was in Dubrovnik and it was 28 degrees every day.

Sounds fab. Went to Croatia in September a few years ago, can't remember the place-name now but it was beautiful. Not Split or Dubrovnik.

That's the spot I was looking at for a mini break this summer! Have you been? Looks amazing
Yes, mind you it was a good 10 years ago now. But I can't imagine it hasn't just got better. Lovely place. Not LOADS to see and do but if you just want a fairly relaxed few days by the sea in a nice Mediterranean town that isn't stupidly expensive, its the place. (y)

Have been to both Kotor and Herceg Novi and had a great time on each occasion, it will become the next Croatia in the next few years with the budget airlines establishing a hub at Tivat which gives direct access to the Bay of Kotor where the resorts are based.

Beautiful place and no shortage of amenities with plenty of places to eat and drink, facilities at the hotels we stayed at were both excellent, crossing the border from Dubrovnik can be a bit of a pain the longest delay we had was an hour, mind you we were there in May when it was a little bit quieter.

They have late summers so early September would be an excellent time to visit, obviously Dubrovnik is worth a visit if you've not been before, Kotor, Budvar and Herceg Novi all have pretty old towns, and Portonovi is where the footballers andk film stars stay.

We went into Bosnia for a day trip which was good and there are plenty of trips and things to see around Montenegro if you're that way inclined, prices are low, last year we were paying 15/20 euros for 3 courses plus wine and beer in nice restaurants.

Would certainly recommend and would definitely go again. Sorry I can't help with the resorts you've suggested as we didn't go but feel free to ask me any specifics that I might be able to help you with.
Thanks for that AM. We're flying into Podgorica and the flight times mean going to the North of Montenegro is probably ruled out.
