SUV advice

Depends what's important to you.

Dacia is the best value for money on the list and they're easy better in terms of cabin quality then they used to be.

Puma is best selling car in UK for a reason, but it's a fiesta with a different body. It's still pretty spacious though and depends on how many people will be in it regularly. Cabin a little cheap feeling in terms of some materials.

3008 it's a great car, the best cabin of those on the list and we'll specced as standard. The other half had one and loved it, they're really well built cars these days.

She's just ordered a 2008, which is a little smaller, but also high specs as standard and has a great interior too.

VW is a nice car, same size as 3008 (others on list smaller), really well built but a little bit dull and you'll pay a little more cos it's a VW.

if you look at a Grandland then the timing belts go after 3-4 years. so factor that in 😂 😂

Thats a rebadged 3008, its the 1.2L engine that are problematic and best to avoid. I have the Phev version of the grandland with a 1.6L engine at the moment but only for another week. It had an issue with the drive belt which took them 6 weeks to get the part but other than been okay. However im constantly finding myself needing to move heavy and large items about for work, some quite filthy so getting a double cap pick up truck on Monday instead.

Mad isn't it. There are people on here who will get worried about EV and say reliability is an issue.
One single thread about ICE and we have: drive belt failures, problematic engines, engines failing after 5 years, timing belt failures and water pump failures.

Kia's are nice to drive - as is the Skoda Kodiaq - not driven a Dacia yet, Honda CRV is a decent car but a big unit the diesels are not very thirsty though, the newer HRV looks the part but haven't driven one of those either.

I've got a CR-V diesel now. Doesn't quite hit the efficiency levels of the Qashqi, but can still top 50 mpg. Very good for getting out of a swamped carpark at last year's Blue Dot festival whilst everyone else was sunk awaiting a tow. A bit of a niche selling point, but worth bearing in mind.

I had a kodiaq for 3 years. Loved it. You are getting a VW but for a fraction of the price. Use the money saved to go top spec.

Got a Honda CRV which isn't a patch on it but we wanted a Hybrid. Couldn't get a Hybrid Kodiaq

Be careful of the 1.2 TCe or Turbo engine in the Nissan range from 2014. But these renault designed engines are used in other cars. There is a class action lawsuit building from 2019 in France and Now just set to go into next stage.
engine issue

summary:
Specifically, cars equipped with 1.2 litre TCE or DIG-T petrol engines, manufactured by Renault between October 2012 and June 2016, suffer from excessive oil consumption, leading to engine failure after 40,000-60,000 kilometres of use, often on the motorway, to the surprise of the motorists, the lawyer noted.

I’ve got the new style HRV, and I can confirm it is the part! Very comfortable, shed loads of room, stuffed full of tech and it has Honda’s magic seats, so you can carry those awkward loads.

Thanks for the link. I've got a 2020 1.3 DIG-T so there is a chance it's a different engine.

*Edit - looks like it does have a different engine.

I'm looking to buy a second hand SUV. Obviously there are plenty of variables, but would any of you recommend any of the following?

Peugeot 2008 or 3008
Nissan Qashqai
Ford Puma
Dacia Duster
VW Tiguan

Or any others for that matter?
Wife had a Qashqai till recently and is driving a Tiquan as a courtesy car now both absolutely spot on in my opinion I was looking for a Sportage last few weeks but bought a Merc GLA last week although smaller than what I was looking for its an amazing car a cracking SUV. My advice to you is test drive a few of these cars and make your own mind up. Good luck.

Predictable as ever.

Don't ever change 😂
