Sympathetic or not?

Seems quite harsh and not a lot of fun yet you do question the reasons why they have for in this situation.

the Brazilian couple were “attending to family business” whatever that is, couldn’t it have been done online?

the elder last I have a lot of sympathy for as she could as easily go to her own home - sounds like she lives alon so it’s madness in a way. It again there is no real explanation in the article as to why she was in Dubai in the first place.

likewise the deliver driver - no reason given for why he was in Brazil.

Sympathy in the sense that some of them were scheduled to get to the UK sooner before the new system started, but their flights got bumped back.

Not sympathy in that during Covid these things have been changing fast. If you've risked travelling, I think you have to take these sort of consequences on the chin.

“ We have no money” but paid for short term return flights to Brazil.

Sky could have dug up somebody with more hardship given they were intent on trotting out the line from a returner “It’s like prison”

No it’s not like prison. You are getting 3 meals a day delivered to your door, a nice colour tv with satellite channels and can order in food and wine in if you want. It’s hell.

Having gone through MIQ in NZ fairly recently I can honestly say it was a pleasant experience. In our welcome pack it warned us that media would be trying to contact us looking particularly for bad experiences. It was obvious the British media would be dying to uncover negative aspects of this new system. Can’t speak for the English MIQ but if it’s anything like ours it’s really a nice two week rest/ break all inclusive.

It may seem like a lot of money to the average person but I can't imagine it is to those who will be returning.

Many people have proven time and time again that they can't be trusted to come back from abroad and stick to isolating at home, fool me once and all that, about time something like this was introduced.

No sympathy here, we live in unusual times and we are all sufferring in some way or another, some much more than others.

Some of the people getting on the bus didn’t have the bin bag on, which suggests to me that it was someone not wanting their face on TV.
Exactly my point.

Because of the nature of media the world over people are forced to drastic measures to keep their medical history out of the public eye.

Yes but they have to pay for anything they order above their three meals!

I think you can have sympathy with them, especially when it’s people for whom seventeen hundred quid is probably a lot of money whilst someone arriving on the same plane who would spend that and more on a night out can swan in and out as they please because COVID doesn’t affect rich people!

Middle of a pandemic and they travelled abroad, silly silly people. And it's not as if enforced isolation hadn't been in the public domain and not been discussed. Did they not consider taking advice before travel.

Sorry missed something there. How can passengers on the same plane as them avoid the isolation hotel?
