Tav

I don’t get to see too many games given I am in Singapore. But currently watching todays game & Maddo said Taverniers effort was an anti climax.
Apologies, but that seems to describe nearly every time I have watched him.

While buzzing about the result, we were pressing and not getting the ball in the box, it reminded me of the loss to Wolves when they went up, down to ten men we were all over them for the last 10-15 minutes but hardly got a cross in.
Tav put two create first time crosses in, one Sporar was denied by the keeper and the following corner came back out to Tav he knocked in a great cross for Crooks.

People ignore the work and covering back Tav does, took a hefty knock yesterday and kept going, their player went off without a limp. Tav has a real desire for this club i just wish the knockers would leave him be.

I think Tav will be sold in the summer, unless we are promoted, which hopefully we are, because he'll thrive in the EPL.

Wilder has just signed two left footed no.8's, which I think is telling.
Are you saying that Tav isn't good enough for us in the Championship, but will thrive in the Premier League? - I would have thought he needs to be setting the Championship on fire to thrive in the P.L.

This is it for me. Some people are unable to see beyond goals and assists (or basically the eye catching stuff). I don't think there's any doubt Tav could and should have a better end product. It's frustrating at times. Particularly when you see crosses like that. You know he has it in him.

But regardless of that he's nearly always worth his place in the team for his workrate and ability to help us win and move the ball up the pitch. He must be a nightmare to play against, doesn't give you a minutes peace on the ball.

He's a managers dream. Good in possession. Brilliant out of possession. It's really only decision making and end product in the final third that lets him down at times. But the work he does allows other players more opportunities to do those things anyway.

Bottom line is we're a better team with him in it.

Interesting video. Sometime in the 2nd half, when we were behind, Tav came to the touchline in front of us and received a torrent of abuse from someone sat behind me towards the back of the East Stand Lower (no idea who, just the general direction). Not too long afterwards Tav battled with a Reading player to win the ball and put us on the attack again (0:09 in the vid). At this point I stood up and gave the double 'Vs' to everyone behind me. Apologies to the innocent for adopting a 'sawn off' approach to insults, to the abuser stuff you, tosser.:giggle:

I think if he was taken off dead ball situations peoples impression of him might improve. He is undeniably wasteful on free kicks and corners which I think skew many folks view on him.

Obviously not, I think he is a top player at this level, despite some varied form this season.

There's a reason why PL clubs have been watching him for a while now.

I hope he plays PL football for us, but that all depends on how we fare this season I think.

Great summary of what he brings to the team 👏

I like Tav, he always to get a bad press, is it because he is always involved and in view. He constantly on the move and making space. Yes some bad passes then again don't they all. Berating any player in the current team is beyond me.

Last couple of games he's improved massively as he seems to be taking less pop shot at goals when a better pass is available. I'd have to say this was his biggest let down, well that and poor set pieces, but he showed that he has the ability to put decent balls in against Reading.

I've never questioned his off the ball play though, never have I seen a player so determined to win the ball back than I have Tav.

Hopefully it was a confidence issue as it looks like he's playing with much more of that now.

absolutely this, and I've said many times before but if he starts regularly scoring and assisting he will be some player
