Tax question (marriage allowance)

I've just received my final payslip of the financial year and due to some unexpected bonuses I've gone over the 50k threshold for the last 12 months.

I currently claim marriage allowance which is only allowed for individuals who earn under 50k a year, what I'm wondering is whether I'll get a tax bill to repay some of the allowance that I've claimed?

I can't get through to the tax office 😩

Yes you will lose the whole marriage allowance and have to repay the tax benefit derived from claiming it for this year.

£900 x 40% = £360

They might collect it through your tax code next year if you ask them.

I'm not completely sure if she can transfer all but £900 of the £1250 married allowance or whether the rules say she can't transfer any if your income is over £50k. So it could be £1250 x 40% = £500.

Cheers, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to tax. I'm guessing the tax office will be in touch with what to do next?

I thought you could only use 20% of your spouses tax allowance if they are a none tax payer or dont reach the threshold?
