Team tonight

Think we might go a little bit more solid tonight...

.......................Dieng

.......Ayling...RVDB...Clarke
Jones.................................Thomas

Howson...Barlaser...O'Brien

.........Greenwood
...................Latte Lath

Also, think we'll be in the lucky white kit:love:

I don't think he will make any changes - unless forced to do so.

It would be harsh to drop anyone of late. We've been pretty solid and we're in good form.

Same line up as Saturday, and then make changes if/when needed during the game.

I think he'll stick with 4 at the back.

I can see VDB coming in if he's fit enough and moving Howson into midfield for either Barlaser or O'Brien. Probably Barlaser out.

-----------Dieng----------

Ayling--VDB--Clarke--Thomas

-----Howson--O'Brien-------

Jones------Azaz-----Greenwood

-------------Lath---------------

We could be 4 points off tonight, didn’t think we’d be in this position a couple of weeks ago tbh
4 points would still be too many IMO. Norwich could scarcely have a better run in. (Still I suppose we did our best to throw it away and drew our last four in 2015/16)!!

We need to overtake Norwich, Covo , Preston and Hull*, and there's five games left. I can't see it.

*With their game in hand I'm looking at Hull as being in a marginally better position than us.

If VDB and Hackney are fit,
I don't think they are. Carrick said they were only on the bench, because we are able to field so many subs, but there was no intention for them to play against Swansea, and Carrick said they won't be rushing them back. So I don't think they'll be starting.

As for Engel or Thomas, I do agree that Engel should be starting.

Hull's position relative to us depends on tonight's result really.

Norwich play Preston next, whatever that result is means we have the chance of gaining points on at least one of them.
We play Hull tonight.

Hull's game in hand is against Coventry.

If we win our games, we're finishing above Hull, we're probably finishing above Preston and there's a good chance we'll finish above Coventry because of their fixture congestion.

If we don't win them, we're not making the play-offs anyway.

I always think that on the run in you are still in with a chance if you are less than 1 per per game left to play behind the team you are chasing. And then when it gets to 3 games left, you really ignore that formula and look at it on a game by game basis.

4 points behind with 4 to play means it's still possible (albeit unlikely and requiring slip ups from those ahead)

6 or 7 points behind with 4 to play means it is off.

I would like to see an unchanged team apart from perhaps Engel in for Thomas. I am hoping that our bench will be significantly stronger with all the returning players.

Not sure about Norwich having an incredibly easy run in, they've got Preston away next. Who have beaten Ipswich, Coventry, Leeds and us at home this season. That'll be a tough game, especially as their away form is poor, only won two away games in 2024 I think?
Birmingham away last game who'll need something probably to stay up, that'll be tough too.

If vanDen Bergh And Hackney are fully fit

Dieng
Ayling Van Den Bergh Clarke Thomas
Howson Hackney
Jones Azaz Greenwood
Latte Lath

If neither fit can Ayling go inside with Dijksteel on the right and Howson and O'Brien in midfield ?

If only Hackney is fit then leave Howson at the back and play Hackney and O'Brien in midfield

I'm only Van Den Bergh is fit put him at the back and have Howson and O'Brien in midfield
