Teesville - Council Notice

Just seen this a4 piece of paper tied to a lamp post whilst walking my dog this evening. Nearly missed it, if not for the fact I can be a nosey grump at times.

Any residents on Belmont Avenue, Kingsway Avenue or Brunswick Avenue, can you confirm if you have had prior notice to this, or even know as of today? I’ve not seen anything through the post for it.

Also, I can be thick when reading things, so can someone who knows Council-speak kindly translate it to something I can fully understand please?

Hopefully it’s not as bad as I am thinking it may be.

So Belmont Avenue, junction between Kingway Ave and also the junction of Normanby Road - is just 1 straight road, so that will in effect be closed off, totally?

No entry/exit for cars/vans/pedestrians up to that time scale (likely a lot quicker)? A really bad scenario.

Hopefully it’s just a catch all, and the work could be completed within a week or so, and not all roads are closed at the same time etc? This is my best case scenario.

If you look at other temporary traffic notices they are all put in place for 18 months but the works sometimes take only a couple of days or weeks.

I assume the 18 month period is just so they don’t have to submit another notice if the works are delayed.

There are loads on the Redcar website

Your best case scenario is correct. Absolutely standard practice for road works to allow for flexibility in planning the works, weather disruption, post works snagging, etc., etc.. All local authorities do it.

I recently emailed the local Labour councillors for the Teesville Ward regarding an issue with the cut next to our house and received an immediate reply from Robert Clarke (within 3 hrs). Robert also put things in place and had a team out the following day to rectify the issue.

It might be worth your while asking him (them) about this.

Aye, I shall see If they know the score too, thank you.

Our Senior Legal Officer has provided the following response.

We make temporary TROs for 18 months but they only remain in force for the duration of the works. My instructions in this case are that the roads/footway will be closed for 2 weeks from 26 June to allow works to install fibre by Map Group UK. The works will take place between 08:00 and 18:00.

I trust this is helpful

Yes, I noticed MAP putting the purple duct in down Sycamore Crescent on Friday, looks like they are blitzing Teesville at the moment.
