That was a sickener

Wilder said in his interview in hindsight he probably just have put defenders on at the end but thought we were comfortable (don’t shoot the messenger).

Also said the ref apologised at halftime for not giving the foul for the first Stoke goal.

How is the goalkeeper your only concern? We’ve just given away 2 points to a dreadful Stoke team. There is far more for us to worry about than Steffen.

Poor substitutions, game management and defending ranks well above that for me!!!
I would agree that the substitutions cost us but its an easy call to make with hindsight. I don't think its a mistake Wilder will make too often.

Dreadful defending? The defending for the Wright Philips goal was certainly poor but that aside I didn't see too much wrong with our defending tonight. Their first goal came about through a dreadful refereeing decision. Granted it seems as though the ref held his hand up and acknowledged his mistake but that does little to help us now.

If we play like that from now on I'm confident we're in for a good season.

I never said quoted ‘dreadful’ defending. I believe defending is a major issue at present, which has led to many of the goals we have conceded this season - shooting ourselves in the foot.

West Brom goal - Lenihan followed the ball unnecessarily leaving a 4 v 3 overload.

1st QPR goal - Jones went to ground easily, then Djiksteel was extremely meek with his hassling of the player.

3rd QPR goal - Djiksteel lost his player who stole in and scored with a header from a freekick.

Barnsley goal - the player who scored wasn’t tracked into the box and scored. The goalkeeper was poor for the shot, but it wasn’t steffen.

1st Sheff Utd goal - their scorer had far too much space on the edge of the area, who was then allowed to drift across and get a shot away.

2nd Sheff Utd goal - one of their players had loads of room from the throw to flick the ball forward to create the cross leading to Giles’ poor clearance into his own net.

I don’t think any of the goals have been Steffens fault. You could argue he could have been stronger for QPRs 2nd, however, he had his back turned to the player and was not expecting it.
