Greggs and MaccieD coffee are both cheap and perfectly drinkable. Is a Costa/Starbucks/Nero twice as good?

If I'm doing a long drive I always look for a Mway services with a Greggs or MaccieD.

If i do have a coffee out (which isn’t often) i prefer to go to a small independent outlet - the last big name chain outlet i went (Costa) was little more than a cup of warm milk, in fact if i didn’t know it was supposed to be coffee i would have guessed it was warm milk. These chains must make one hell of a profit as I’m guessing the staff are minimum wage and overheads can’t be massive

I'd love to get a coffee just from small independent places, but when it's upwards of £4 then it's a little hard to justify.

Octopus do free coffee too through their app, looks to be Caffe Nero or Greggs.
