"The Conservatives are at risk of becoming the bell ends"

Sophy Ridge is brilliant all round no matter your political persuasionā€¦ and other qualities to

If only the tories were bell ends. They're way worse than that.

As for the analysis, I think that guys wrong for a couple of reasons. Firstly I do think both big parties have a hardcore of supporters who'll follow them regardless of policy.

Second I think its overly simplistic to assume every policy area is a bell curve. There's loads of policies where the polling shows most people have a preference one way or another. If you poll re: NHS staff wages the graph will be a straight line with the left wing response higher. If you poll re: police powers you'll get the opposite.

I agree with your first part. For example I can't see the tories falling below about a 20% vote share regardless of how right wing their policies become.

However, most policy areas do sit on a bell curve, although it maybe a bit skewed either left or right.

Let me give an example. Most people believe there should be some level of social security provided, we just disagree on the amount. The example you gave on NHS wages will also be the same, Jr Dr's asking for 30% pay hikes won't sit well will lots of people, but 10% probably would.

In some policy areas you cannot split the child, supposed illegal immigration would be a good example. You either think it's illegal, or you are right and know that it isn't. Not a lot of middle ground there.
