The Crown/ABC Cinema

The building needs to be completely renovated which is why it's had no real private investment. The council will hopefully put in enough money to at least get it up to a point where it's commercially viable but the current state of their finances doesn't exactly make that look likely. It might need some sort of government or lottery funding to get it done. It would make a great sports bar or live venue if it was done to a high enough standard.

When you look at the buildings Revolution generally take in town and city centres (one in Newcastle opposite the train station is similar), it would lend itself perfectly to something like that. Sports bar would be great too, you're right!

I'm amazed the council have paid the price they have for a derelict shell of a building that no one on earth would buy.

Word on the street is that Andy Preston is having it turned into his own photography studio.

Each room will be done out as a part of the Boro, and he will pose there for his publicity shots instead of having to actually go out into the community.

This will leave him more time to look at porn on his computer, although he will use the 'public denials' room to state that this never happened.

Multi-functional! Sounds horny.

I passed by it on Satda and wondered how long before something happens to it?

I`m glad the Council have bought it - because private business clearly werent interested and it would have wasted away until it had to be pulled down.
Does anyone know where to offer suggestions or ideas about the place?
I wonder whats happening to that tarmac out the back - currently used to contain cars?
