The foul on Van den Berg and no booking?

Engel was very adamant there as a foul in the build up to their second as well. Carrick definitely thought so too.
Not for me. I’ve been an Engel fan of late but thought he had a poor game today and threw himself to the ground for that goal. Not a foul for me.

I couldn’t tell either way. Agree with Engel’s performance. He wasn’t at his best today.

Thought it was Greenwood at the time, somehow, but it was an absolutely disgusting foul and the fact it wasn't even given as a yellow card was shocking.

Maddo said it wasn't a yellow on commentary. I thought it was a definite yellow. Not nasty he attempted to get the ball but pretty late. Not a red either mind.

Amazed no booking for that, then the next foul on Jones which was nowhere near as bad resulted in an “inevitable” booking.

I like Maddo but I can’t always agree with him.

The game against West Brom when Jones got taken out as last man. On one hand he was saying it wasn’t a foul, but it was last man. But it wouldn’t be “fair” for the referee to send him off.

Would love to know where “fairness” comes into the last man rule.

As the referee gave the free kick it should have been a straight red. Harsh, maybe but those are the rules.

As usual, we had another Championship referee with no bottle or ability to make the right decision.

I thought today’s one on Rav was a clumsy coming together instigated by their player. Rav was away. Booking for me but only watched it back once.

he got pushed in the back and I think fell over the guys leg. So yes, I think it it was a foul

Posted this on another thread. Worst decision today for the referee was when Van De Berg was taken clean out and the defender not even spoken too or booked. The defender did really well, leave the scene of the incident join his team mates on the edge of the box, the referee or linesman on the East Stand side didn’t know which defender it was. Very poor from the officials

I thought the ref was shocking and the linesmen simply ineffectual.

Coventry did a bit of assault here and there, stuff you would be arrested for in the street or the pub and not even a foul given, just a wave on. Trips on our ball players as they went past defenders were just ignored.

I think it’s the same for all teams, the refereeing is generally incompetent, but it is particularly unfortunate that the officiating generally favours the kickers, the pullers, the trippers and the time wasters. Something not right with the league when that happens so often.
