The penalty yesterday

I have no complaints about the result yesterday we were beat fair and square. What I do have an issue with is the time it took to take the penalty by my recogning it took at least 4 minutes from being awarded to being taken. This included one sly little git kicking the ball off the spot which infuriated me.Now if we had of scored the penalty there would of have been very little time to equalise because the ball was hardly in play in injury time with people feigning injury and tactical substitutions. This is supposed to be entertainment yet game after game we seeing less football and more gamesmanship.

I think the ref was happy with the gamesmanship and the miss because he didn’t want to give the penalty in the first place.

He was a homer.

Just watched a video on the Sky Sports app of Merson commenting on the penalty decision. For the first few watches of it he was slating Roberts and saying why is he arguing what a ridiculous thing to do and a deserved red.

Then he saw from a different angle that it clipped the bar rather than Roberts punch it away and he suddenly changed his stance to the ref is a disgrace and if we go on to equalise (he assumed we’d score the penalty) and Burnley miss out off promotion by 2 points then they can blame this ref.

Can he not see the irony that having seen various camera angles he was initially certain it was a pen and only changed his mind from a close up, slow motion replay!

Absolute joke of a pundit
