Why? There's no need to lock a threadReddit have a feature where threads can be locked. I feel like that would be a very useful feature on FMTTM, using this thread as an example.
Im pleased you have gone from all Staffordshire bull terriers are killers , to having reservations about them, and well done for admitting you got it wrong in relation to the breed of dog.Still have reservations with staffies but I got it wrong in relation to the attack i posted about.
Bella-Rae Birch: Dog that killed toddler was legal American Bully XL

Whilst I’m sure there are a lot of responsible staffy owners unfortunately that type of dog (powerful basically)sadly also attracts a lot of idiots who aren’t bothered about the dogs welfare just their own status. Add children into that mix and you have a recipe for disaster.Good friend of mine had a Staffy, he was absolutely gorgeous.
Met 4/5 more since and each one has lured me in with their big eyes and gave nothing but love towards myself and my children.
Yet I've seen a Labrador, and bearing in mind I've owned two of the sweetest labradors ever, try and rip in to my sister in law's pug?
Think breed shaming and assumptions on a breed need to stop.
If a dog that isn't supposed to be but it's built like a monster then it's clearly an owner issue and they should be held accountable.
R.I.P to the poor kid and anyone else killed in these attacks, but you can not label one breed absolute monsters whilst embracing others who can turn in the blink of an eye to
I took my Staffy Rocco out for a walk yesterday ,he's 2.5 years old , a young lass was walking up the back street with a young pup (13 weeks old) ,my dog started wagging his tail madly wanting to play with the pup, when they got within 4 feet of each other my dog laid down in the submission stance !!Good friend of mine had a Staffy, he was absolutely gorgeous.

Don't forget it was not a Staffordshire bull terrier that killed the child , so lets not bring them into it yet againWhilst I’m sure there are a lot of responsible staffy owners unfortunately that type of dog (powerful basically)sadly also attracts a lot of idiots who aren’t bothered about the dogs welfare just their own status. Something needs to change, we can’t keep letting children be killed due to peoples’ stupidly.
That’s lovely, if only all staffies were as soft as yours.I took my Staffy Rocco out for a walk yesterday ,he's 2.5 years old , a young lass was walking up the back street with a young pup (13 weeks old) ,my dog started wagging his tail madly wanting to play with the pup, when they got within 4 feet of each other my dog laid down in the submission stance !!
The young lass and me just burst out laughing, there's not one ounce of badness in my boy ,just wants to love and play with everyone .
Well tbh every one I’ve encountered has been ,how many have you actually spent time with ?That’s lovely, if only all staffies were as soft as yours.

Absolutely and I don’t think the breed is what we should be overly focused on. We need to focus on people who aren’t responsible owners but still choose to have dogs who can kill.Don't forget it was not a Staffordshire bull terrier that killed the child , so lets not bring them into it yet again
You really have to question anyone who thinks it’s acceptable to bring ANY breed of dog into the home of a very young child , as ANY dog is capable of killing a defenceless child , through into the mix the fact that the dog was an unknown quantity too ,and that’s just downright irresponsible .Absolutely and I don’t think the breed is what we should be overly focused on. We need to focus on people who aren’t responsible owners but still choose to have dogs who can kill.
